Thanks for clarifying Malo! Do you have any suggestions on what I could do/keep in mind to take it to the next level of polish? What were some things that you did if/when you had this problem?

I have been doing some 5/10/30-45 studies and exercises lately:

Some master copies, and imagination exercise.
5/15/25 min exercises. It's crazy how your mood can affect your concentration, which can affect the efficiency of these. Needless to say, I wasn't in the best of moods today, I also think that affected mindsets can also alter how much you retain from studies like these. Instead of concentration on what you are doing, there's other garble floating around the dome. So if you ever catch yourself, it may be worth it to take a break and try to find a way to clear your head. There isn't a real point in just going through the motions. Copying a piece is one thing, but studying is another.

Some more warmups and a Sci Fi scenery. I found out that this method isn't great to work with. I am going to have to develop some techniques to handle this better and gain more control. Live and learn. I lost control of the Sci-Fi piece so fast.

This is my warm up for getting back into ships n shit. This is the brain garble, and just trying out some shapes. Next step is to study some reference, and exercise out actual aerodynamic shapes, and then revisit some thumbs to get proper with it.

          Hey there
Love the studies you did!! Looking pretty cool.
Well - good question. Especially I'm not that guy who's able to do some highly detailed finished images.
But I guess its just a matter of adding some more details to certain areas. Hmm - some example…
The lady with the horns - I could see some more details in her face and just a bit of texture/details on the horns. Not to much - if you are doing to much, you'll loose your focal point. I know - sounds easier than it is (especially for me as well -still struggling with the amount of details and where to add sharp edges and where not).
Hope this will give you a glimpse from what I have in mind.
          Cheers and keep rockin' !!

              Some Vehicle Practice

The start of my Lightbringer for the Character Forge Challenge. I decided to see how far I could get on the day it was due. I wanted to add a bunch more stuff to it and before I knew it, it was less about the character. I never got a chance to sit down with this some more.

A quick after work "Dude"-el (doodle)

              And just some sketches.

And currently futzing with this guy. Any C+C would be helpful.

              Beautiful work!
On your last character, you could maybe add a warm light coming from the ground, just to balance a bit more the colors. Just my humble one

Thanks SCalC I tried toying with it a bit and went with a side light. The warmth really helped define more of the form, thanks for the input. Here goes what I ended up with:

I am not sure if it is uber dark, since it displays fine on my monitor at home, but really dark on my monitors at work. Can anyone let me know if the shadows are a bit heavy?
