Default Failstar's Sketchbook, C+C muchly appreciated

So I have finally decided to throw myself at the mercy of all the insane talent here and post up some of stuff. I have found cghub to be so damn inspirational and intimidating at the same time. I thought to myself: what better way to experience it than to be a part of it. So here I go:

          zeichenwut: Thanks!

AlexTooth: Thanks, I must say I enjoy characters a whole lot.

fionkell: Thanks fionkell, my pleasure. There is a good amount of mess and madness behind those lines. Clean lines was something I strove for at first, but now have just embraced my natural scratch. Thankfully when I scan I can clean them up slightly

Some quick commissions from last week.

I forget where the cityscape is from

And I have been messing around on this one for the past couple nights after work, using it to mess around and figure junk out:

*Note: there is a Janaschi and Jeff K Simpson study in here. Lately noses have been on the mind and I was trying to figure out how they handled them.*

Some recent sketches from the good ol fart book. I used to live in this book and until recently, it hasnt been getting much love.

WIP character. Something I drew at starbucks today after work and then proceeded to start painting at home.

                      Hi Justin
                      Thanks for the kind words,
you've got some cool work yourself!
                      hmmm as for crit
I really like the designs of your characters
but the way they are standing/pose feels abit off (like they're not grounded)
Though the second sketch in your more recent post feels better than the ones in the first post
could be solved by just changing the angles of the legs/feet or just paying attention the way legs move
(ref? or look at yourself in the mirror!)

ah hope that is at least of some help
                      keep up the good work!

Diarum: Thanks! I appreciate the comments What about the 2nd pic stands out to you, if you don't mind me asking?

Fetsch: Thank you. My pencils are my favorite thing to do as of the moment. It's easy for me to lose myself and escape into my sketchbook. My digital stuff is a bit more of a struggle. Thanks for the comment!

jefflai: Ooo I haven't heard that before, but I totally see what your are talking about. It's easy for me to overlook the feet since I find them more difficult and my eyes are drawn to the faces, arms and torso. You defiantly found something I can work on, and will work on. Thanks man, help like that is invaluable to me.

This is the progression of a commission I am working on. I am struggling with this tanner skin tone in the sun. I keep getting a good color going and then add this bleached out highlight tone above it which just lightens everything, and losing that richness. For reference of the char google: "Michiko". Kinda chipping away and making small changes to the other WIPs I posted earlier, and will post more progress as soon as it becomes a bit more significant. Thanks for the comments so far guys, it is greatly appreciated.

Most recent Livestream thing. Demo'd a after work sketch I finished today. The paint is still WIP, and I gotta get faster at this stuff. The major problems are still there, like the fact that shes going to tip over. D: I really need to do my grounded feet studies....eat a big bowl of Contra Pasta (contrapposto)
