well heres the first real sketch of the year. went for some industrial design kinda feel.

yeah yeah... i like mecha...

I got enrolled to do some life drawing classes end of februrary so i'm really looking forward to that experience. should help me grow a lot more.

these are the last pages for jan in me sketchbook

less studies here and more me trying to put into practice what i've been learning. had to throw in a few mecha heads etc too.

well this one was a bit of fun for a saturday arvo... somethin different from the average mecha design... when i first say the line work i thought it was great so when virus-original asked if i wanted to colour it i really couldnt wait to have a go. went for something warm and relaxed. also wanted to try and remove the lines afterwards

Hey man the bots have some cool designs.
But the material they're built from looks the same sort of, by that I mean they all have the same "value curve"

Doing still lifes helps a lot with that area

Other than that, on your last piece, we see alot of those circular brush strokes, which give the piece a "digital look", but rather a sloppy one, because there's not much blending or plane separation,
which is another big thing in this piece, as the grass remains flat and that further flattens the image on top of the blending.

Try to push the values more and do more still lifes.

and another mecha head... ive already had some crits regarding the sharpness (or lack thereof) of the eye and its glow but im more than willing to hear more crits.
