The white edges around the brushes is something typically for painter. You can avoid it by using the layer options or just stay on one layer.
Nice studies so far. Something to the last piece: Even though something might look rather monochrome like this sunset, it will get a lot more alive when you start mixing in other colors, Some blue spots of the same value in the shadows for example. Keep it up man.
