A number of you were wondering why we needed a private girls forum, well how could we organise secret art activities if everyone could see it.

Our first activity was Dreams and Nightmares with a number of us illustrating some sleep induced experiences.

Take some time to examine the images and vote for your favourite, the winner to be featured on the main banner. Feel free to comment and crit - for while this was a fun activity we are all still trying to learn.

They will stay anonymous until the poll is closed.

This is a kind of entity I met in a dream. She was quite scary, but had this kind of serene feeling around her, so I wasn't really afraid even if everything else had that kind of nightmare feeling that you have right before a dream turns nasty, if you know what I mean? I was floating around her while she just looked at me, but I knew exactly what she was "saying" without her ever actually saying a word.



Being surrounded by dark shapes and frightening creatures, each one more terrifying than the last, as the sky swirled with odd colours over me. Only for a giant purple tiger to emerge from the gloom stand over me and roar sending the creatures running as I climbed onto its back and it ran towards a light sending the creatures running for cover.



Based on dreams that have a recurring theme of floods, getting pulled into the ocean by high tides, and being lost at sea.



This is more a representation of my dreaming than any actual dream I have. My dreams tend to be odd, disjointed, threatening. and extreme. Sort of what you might expect if Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte got together with a mad architect and decided to create a world together.



In a dream I had some years ago, my family moved to a colony on Mars when I'm a child, probably around 8 or so. The streets were dirty and red with dust and the city was filled with refugees and cargo. I was separated from my older sister in the market during some sort of a riot, so I hid behind some crates in an alleyway. When I emerged some time later, as the day was dimming, I found her body in the street. Her skin was smeared with red, from both blood and dirt. Her flesh was pale and cold. And I stood there, looking down at her body, thinking how alone I had just become.

I voted for Lost at Sea though Dragon Watercolor was a close second for me.

I voted for Death on Mars -- I kept looking at it far far longer than the rest of them; I think it possibly had the most to say.


By the way, I appreciate the total lack of detail in the buildings in the background. I imagine this will be seen by others as a fault, perhaps, but I think it's entirely intended to allow the focus to be fully on the girl.

These are all really beautiful, I had trouble picking one. Finally went with "Lost at Sea" because visually, it seems to hold together the best if that makes sense. Plus I love the style. The Mars one was a close second, though.

I voted for Bound Lady, these are all great, my second choice was mars too but I love them all, congratulations for finishing them and thanks to Kovah for arranging this! Hopefully the first of many.

I voted for lost at sea in the end, i just love the style and i have a fear of drowning even though i can swim well so it struck a chord with me.

They were all wonderful entries though and it was hard to pick, though if i had made it multiple choice i would have voted for all of them

I voted Bound Lady as it was the most dreamlike. Death on Mars ran pretty close. Sorry I didn't get mine finished, but well done to the rest of you.

I voted for 'Bound Lady', because I'm more drawn to creepy stuff, and I thought the treatment was very elegant. Loved the design too. But 'Lost at Sea' was a VERY close second. The narrative was great, and the medium was masterfully handled.

The Cat Rider was a little dark; hard to read. Nice palette, though!

The watercolor Dragon was beautifully painted.

And 'Death on Mars' had an awesome atmosphere! Isn't Mars the 'red planet' though? Nonetheless, really caught the surrealness of a dream. Or is that surreality? Annnnywho......
