awesome topic! I love this story. finding free time to jump in. there's alot of really cool ideas posted so far, really great stuff. here's what I got so far...will have to move things around and get it looking more like a cover, but still working out where im taking it

Sorry for the lack of WIPs. Life came along and ate my spare time, so now I'm doing this in a hurry.

Coming up for air and posting a wip before crawling to bed. Don't know if I'll finish, I've got some way to go still and can't give this as much time as I'd like in the next 24 hours or so...

it has been quite an ordel to get this done, but i am glad i stuck with it.
this will be my final version provided i dont wake up in the mourning screaming :P

Some really, really fantastic work this round! You guys just rock! I'll try to get some individual crits for you in the next day or so.

My apologies about the serious delay. Work has been slamming me and I am running slightly behind in the extracarricular activities.

I've extended the deadline by a day - so you've got until tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5pm (Pacific) to post your final if you want to put any tweaks on it.

I'll get the next round posted either this evening or tomorrow mid-morning.

Excellent, running behind as well - and well work is a bitch that keeps riding my free time XD

notpill - very impressive work, you've got alot going on in there, i'm tempted to say that might end up being more of a movie poster than a book cover (thats not a bad thing though)

lizclarke - Looking pretty sweet, although why is the author font larger than the title of the book :S

adamsimons - Extremely interesting composition, though the barsoom stories and john carter take place in the late 1860's

dunno how strict we need to follow the descriptions of Burroughs' stories.

@dadoalmeida - Good work..although I actually i prefer your more comic book style version...just my personal preference

@notpill - awesome! I like the treatment of the fonts too. And i see Natalie Portman :P

some really good stuff guys, though I only just jumped into this its been fun watching and working. definitely going to comment on all the art so far after I get near finished with this one, you guys all make this even more enjoyable...

good to hear of the extension as I probably would not have time to finish otherwise. reformatted the composition a bit and threw in the title placeholder til I can figure out exactly what I want it to look like....pretty sure of the setup at this point, and all thats left is to detail and refine...

just tweaked the colors to gain a bit of darkness and drama.

Fantastic round guys, there is a lot of really great entries!

the funny things is that she was Bo Derek (at least she was my reference) and you can see her in my early wip, but at some point I've changed her lips, painted some stroke on the chin and ...bang, Natalie Portman! LOL

hey, just saw the time extension... lol, after painting myself into a dazed stupor up to 2 am this morning. Real happy about the extension cause I still wanted to finish off some things on my piece.
