This is getting really cool. Forget that it's iron man, it's just interesting to look at. From far away you notice the clean metallic modeling, and then when you get closer, you start to see the organic stuff, and observe the likeness. Nice work.

So, right now, it's a great portrait, I wonder if there are things you can do to help it read in 360 degrees like you would try to in a physical bust. Right now, I imagine the back of the head might be a little boring compared to the front. Can you do any tilting or turning of the head and neck to add a little tension?

An example of what I mean can be found here (artist Jose Fernandez): http://www.joseismael.com/images/michael_alt2_large.jpg

So the above could be sculpted looking straight forward, but the tilt to the spine forward, and twist of the neck to the subject's left seem to add a little tension and push your eye around the piece to the right. Just a suggestion, and the model is looking GREAT!

            jjp3d: thanks man!

denz3d: thanks a lot! i'm glad you like it!

pointpusher: i totally agree with you on posing. this is simply just setup for now so i can get the hard surface where i want it and functional for a quick rig. that's a really cool sculpture and i like the pose a lot as well as the expression. i'm deffinetley going to go for something that shows a fierceness about him. although i'm taken back by the abrupt casting of Cheadle, i think he has a lot more edge to him than Howard did. he was almost too much of a pretty boy for the part imo.

Sinzalot: thanks dude! your sculpt is looking really slick with those changes man.

I've been fighting with the chestplate and shoulder area, mainly from lack of reference, but getting the supporting edges to work the way i wanted them to was somewhat of a headache. These are just raw materials here, no texture work yet. I still need to model the back area and then work on the base.
modeled out the arc reactor too.

                New light setup and materials.
Modeled out the back, base, and coverplate.
Now I'm moving on to texturing and refining Cheadle's sculpt and then texture the armor.
