Default couple more....

Toolbox Creatures: We're all familiar with the Hammerhead shark, the Sawfish or even the Shovelnose Guitarfish. For this one, your creature should have something in common with a tool. It can be a structural element of the design, like how the hammerhead looks like a hammer, or it can simply funtion in a tool like way, like the way a woodpecker can drill a hole with it's beak. For this one, if your design starts to get biomechanical, or fully robotic, that's okay.

Creaturize your pet! Are you a pet owner, or just a pet lover? Perhaps you're a pet hater? Either way, the goal on this one is to take an otherwise regular and familiar pet and enhance their design. Maybe you think your housecat could use some hands and wings or ten extra sets of eyeballs? Maybe you'd like to see your dog 120 feet tall. Or perhaps conversely you can't stand little animals and you'd like to show their inner evil. Let your emotions and weird fantasies run wild to reveal the inner truth of your pet.

A tunneling creature that lives deep in a planet that is constantly assaulted by the heat and radiation of a star that is too close. It would have large complex caverns it creates with help from other troop members and generations past.

A creature that vacuums up the organic slime that covers all of the region it inhabits.

Creatures able to inhabit the vacuum of space, they live in an asteroid belt similar to ours and travel between the asteroids for food.

Heh, that last one sounds like Lovecraft's dimensional shamblers.

The idea of making a creature that's somehow related to music came to mind, though no concrete idea so far other than 'music eater', and I have no idea what that's supposed to be, the words just matched in my mind.

Magical Creatures with an odd name such as: Fire Sacrogon or Flying Soniform -- but the main inspiration would be a small list of battle moves it would know like the enemies in old RPG.

          Some move ideas:
          Fire Tongue
          Echo Blast
          Gigawatt
          Thorn Fling
          Blast
          Healing Ray
          Shadow Fang

          Just a thought

            Elephas Musca domestica;
A mixture between an elephant, and a common house fly. Could be taken litterally, but it could also be smashed into weirdness.

            Dependiendo peleles
Creatures Dependant on the aid of either water filled or air filled bubbles somewhere on the body.

            Titan sur chenilles
Big creatures missing any trace of or having no function in their hind legs. Most of the movement is done with the front legs, or other things of course.

            Transparant Demise
Self explanatory maybe, but basically creatures, or predators with low visibility or high transparency to ambush the prey.

There, not bad for a first post?

how about a creature that consists ONLY of human body parts but still cannot be humanoid. Could be any scale of a bodypart and does not have to be like a full leg or a hand. Rather focus on smaller pieces and compose a fully functional and anatomically correct creature.

evolved pet - humanity has settled on other planets and brought their pets with them. over centuries/decades, these pets have had to adapt to the new planet's conditions. so what do they look like now?
(perhaps have some restrictions here on what exactly the new conditions are, such as increased gravity, more oxygen in the atmosphere, or different day/night cycles)
(perhaps not even pets, but any animals they had to save from earth. farm animals or animals that serve as food source?
perhaps these animals were brought specifically to the new planet to evolve, and thus become more efficient for food production)

I really looking forward to make kind of manimal or insectoid with some specialisation, like hunter, or archeologist, or astronomer, or queen of insectoids also would be good.

I'd like some more specific challenges like these:

Creature with specific characteristics: The creature would have a set of characteristics that must be included, such as a number of eyes / limbs / type of skin, etc. In Avatar for example, (almost) all the animals have 6 limbs, smooth or armoured skin, and no fur.

Creature to fullfil a role: Scifi-fantasy worlds often require a new animal to fulfil a familiar role, such as a horse, bird of prey, tiger, etc.

New Breed: Take an existing group of creatures and design something new that could be part of that group. A new type of Zerg, or a new type of Mammoth for example.

Built for *: Some animals are clearly build to excel at something. The challenge could be to design a creature that is the best at a specific task. Running, Jumping, distance flight, strength, enduring damage (turtling), long-range combat, etc...

                    Gordusan Whistler
A slithering snake like creature that that exhumes fumes from it's backside. Often called the whistling death because as it expels the gases a sharp whistling sound can be heard. Those who have heard it pray that the sound isn't originating near them because when the sound fades either you've lucked out and you're alive or it means you've succumbed to the toxins this critter bares.

                    Star whale

An abstract idea for a titanically large creature that rides upon the radiation of space and eats "fresh" radiation expelled by stars.

                    Vortaxin Hornet

A swarm based challenge that displays the habits of the swarm and demonstrates how they work together.

Munselldo(a play on the Munsell colour theory)
This is just an idea I've been dabbling with myself, but basically it's a creature that feeds off pigments and usually acquires it from living organisms that have pigments inherently the "opposite" of the sky/sun colour in their environment. I pictured this as a creature much in the form of a crow but it's beak is longer and slender and works much in the same way as a mosquito.

a few items I'm looking forwards to:

                      * fish or fish-eaters.

                      * something that depends on a pool/body of water for part or all of its lifecycle.

                      * reconstruction of an alien fossil. (what did it look like? how much was found?)
