Default Toastage's Sketchbook

Oh hey there! I've been getting inspiration from all the awesome artists here at cghub for a long time and finally plucked up the courage to start posting my own stuff. I love this site, it's so inspiring and full of amazing artists!

So here's some of my recent stuff, hopefully it will lubricate the past in to the present and oil up the way forward to a future of awesomesauce!

This is a bunch of my most recent work. I'm a big fan of speed painting so some of it's looser than others.

I am assuming you are using a photo as a base for you speed paints and then kind of roll with it as it unfolds?

Great stuff, I really like it and I am going to focus the new year on trying to merge character design with moody scenes like these...There is a balance to be found for sure

hah thanks for the feedback guys!

Hey Bjorn! I've tried painting over the photo thing but without much success, everything turns out black and icky. I usually start off by painting down a layer of texture. The only photo I used in these was for the woman's face at the bottom I'd love to see your badass character work in some angsty scenarios

            Your avatar is quite funny
I love the mood and story that goes into these quick environments and scenes. I'd like to see more images like the first 2 and a few more daring dynamic camera and POV angles with action. Those two give me more of a sense of what's happening and throw me into the action taking place. I'm making it my new years resolution to do just that.
