Default The ConceptArt.org 4.0 thread

To sum it up and explain the removal of the said thread a bit, Admin's thinks that the thread may contain contents that could be potentially deemed as libelous and defamatory, and may result in us or individuals on the thread having legal actions taken against.

I am upset because I know a lot of you came here because you could freely speak your minds, and most of you had pretty much kept it civilized and just wanted to be honest about things and your own opinions.

But on a slightly grave note, it is the truth that we definitely don't have the financial capabilities to protect everyone here if we face a lawsuit.

So as much as I'm unhappy myself that the thread had to be removed, I ask everyone to please try to empathize and be understanding of the situation.

Just felt like I need to say this. That is all.

Eh, it's not a problem. I hope no one makes a big deal out of it.

hmm, well it had pretty much run its course anyway, though it does suck. i doubt someone would have any legal standing anyway, and it would be disgusting and suicidal for someone to even try, but then again im not a lawyer.

oh and dont worry about protecting me. i'm not worried. i'm sure the judge would have a good laugh.

I'm shocked by the thread removal and the mention of lawsuits in relation to the thread's content. What the hell....? Something is seriously wrong.

To me it is a big deal, when, like zemotion said, people kept it quite civilized and level-headed. What was said was there and served its purpose, even if it had run its course and was pretty much over.
It was just a collection of mostly well stated opinions and reasonable debate, despite the touchy subject.
I understand if the mods removed it under threat of a lawsuit, But how such a thing could be liable to legal action is beyond my comprehension.

No worries. You see, when admins give rational/valid reasons stated in a calm, collected and professional manner for removing posts or thread, it's a beautiful thing. CGHub has done this, so no complaints here

            2nd and 3rd that.

Well there're many things we don't know, not being lawyers, right? If there are even slight chances of anything that could cause this place to go down, I guess it's only fair to play safe and let it rest now.

I thought the admin thread might be a little confusing to some, so I wanted to explain that it's just a concern on our part for our community, and a plea for all to please not be angry with us for doing this.

I'm sorry, but it's just really frustrating for me to see some civil debate being deleted, especially when the thread originated form people trying to figure out things and overcome a problem. It seems well within reasonable freedom of speech.

I just had to state my furstration, because I really like this place too.

BUT, I don't mean to bring back any trouble or discussion, what's was said was said, I just wish people could look at it and move on... because forgetting such stuff is what keeps people in these cycles so many times.

I have to agree on this one. Things were handled in a mature way here. Its not the same as what had us miffed in other examples. Good reason was given, and that good reason was not that the admins wanted to avoid criticism but that they wanted to avoid litigation.

I want to thank cghub for leaving the thread open for as long as they could, letting us rant a bit, and most importantly, treating the situation in an adult and professional manner without patronizing us or hiding things behind closed doors.

There are times to raise a stink, complain, and fight tooth and nail, but this is not one of those times, and I hope that those of us who are CAfugees can recognize that. After all, most of us are professionals, and those who aren't are trying to be. The stink we raised on CA was called for, continuing to rave about it here to blow off steam is acceptable, but we can't be so base as start attacking those that run this site as well when they havenot done anything worth getting upset about.

After all, being rebels is one thing; being uncivilized goons is another.

In short, it could be construed as defamation of character, which is legal grounds for a lawsuit - regardless of how founded the opinions are.

I'm sorry the thread had to be taken down, but I totally understand the reasoning, and agree with it. It was done anyway. Let's now move on.

yeah, speaking as one who is new to this community and has been very frustrated with some of the goings on that were in the deleted thread, all I can say is that I totally understand, and the mature explanation makes all the difference.

                  I like this place
