Default Sardeanie's Doodles

I've been so inspired by this forum that I am starting a sketchbook of my own. I'm not sure what will be in here for sure. I"ll use it as a visual journal of random this and thats. I imaging some will be loose and some will be more finished but all will rather random and fun. That's what I use to love about my old sketchbooks.... fun collections of junk and most with no real intent or purpose other than to visually exercise. I may pull in some old stuff and put a new spin on it. Ah, the beauty of digital.... the paint never dries. Reworks are limitless.

This is an old skinny line that I just did a tone study of. I'm thinking of a whole series of these water creatures. Pshop.

I'm using this forum to put tidy up my unfinished/abandoned scribbles. This one has bopped around with an whole series for years it seams. Not much time invested overall, just never finished it. Today I put my name on it.

I call this a doodle because it is so small. I painted it at the uploaded size of 500x700 pixels. It still amazes me how much detail digital media affords. I dig pixels!

Default Speed render test

I was experimenting on a quick render technique using the original line work as more than just an underlay. Blur, layer, blend, push and pull I hammered it into a rough shape in 20 minutes. I polished it off with another hour of noodling. It worked pretty well with this subject but it may not be so effective on something more soft and delicate.

Nice start,
I love seeing the rough line sketches and then the final rendering below each idea. Nice rendering style. I love that strange abstract looking creature with the eyes, what looks like a tooth on the upper back and a sac/brains up top..

Thanks Mike! Yes that does look like a tooth! I have no real explanation for it though. I just drew it LOL.

Here are some more skinny lines from the "Water Creature" series. Ink on paper, old school.

Default Plasmic Headdress

Adding to the "sketchbook". Kind of more like a WIP than a sketch but I'm undecided on the final approach so I'm throwing some color ideas around. Digital media is just great for this kind of stuff, yes?

The line drawing is a rework from something I sketched ages ago. I reworked some proportions. The tone WIP I did in an hour.

I liked the idea of really strong contrasting colors giving it an almost "pop art" feel. I imagine the final being completely rendered tonally as realistically as I can make up. Taking a trip around the color wheel brought the 4 variations.

I'm undecided on a color set but I suppose if I settled on the first I could make any of the others with a hue shift. Anyone have a favorite?

Default Plasmic Headdress

I figured I'd try a more "traditional" color palette. I could easily go this way for the final. It's just a personal work but I'd like to finish it.

Default Sketchbook Pro

Why does symmetrical drawing feel like cheating? Anybody else feel that way? Sure is fun though. I just bought Sketchbook Pro a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE it. 10 min. doodles.
