Wow, crazy spaceships man! Really digging those tech designs. I'm really impressed by how fluid and clean your linework is. Do you have any advice on how to achive good lines digitally?

Oh yea, and your refless figures look pretty darn good to me lol. Great stuff!

      Thank you!

I've been focusing on attempting to make straighter lines, and improving draftsmanship. In photoshop I'll tend to shift-click the longer lines, but the smaller ones I try to draw freehand. When I'm not doing anything like on a subway I've been just making two points and moving only my shoulder or elbow connecting the two. It seems to be improving my work, and I notice that when I can draw the line freely I can get the weight appropriate without having to buil up lines successively. The less wrist-work you do, and the quicker you can accurately draw a line, i'm finding, the cleaner your linework will be.

I'm also trying to tighten up my perspective, and I'll spend a good 5 minutes setting up a perspective grid tailored to the lines in the sketch, as I've found that skewed perspective can screw a technical drawing like this, even if the lines are animated and interesting. Finally, I work in a high enough resolution that the difference between a brush sized 2 and 5 is not too too significant, which allows me to emphasize certain areas with more care than if the change is drastic.

Hey Zombat, great linework...especially love the last two and the one from post #24. the finished version from post #26 is has some blocky and wiggly stuff going on around the sillhouette..dunno if that's intended, but i would recommend to clean that up with the marque tool. Doesn't take long and it looks more presentable afterwards.

            great stuff! keep em coming

            cheers

Thanks! Indeed #26 is a bit sloppy ... at some point I may clean it up but I kind of want to keep up the forward momentum, and pay more attention to presentation in future work.

Really like all your updates and what you do, not only the linework and the perspectives are really good and working, also I really like your shading and colors.

Thank you! I will try, though suddenly my spare time is eaten by another project.

I am therefore resigned to allowing my lunch hour to be eaten up.
