check out that link. i didnt think it would help that much but seriously its one of the best things you could get to help you glide over the tablet surface...
I agree.. honestly I can't live without a smudge guard glove.
I know a few friends with cintiq's and they all use the glove.. it's really not just about the oil on your hand getting on the surface of the tablet. It helps the movement against the tablet feel more natural.. and it helps encourage me, personally, to use my arm more in painting/drawing, rather than my wrist (which is generally considered a nono where I am.. xP)

I've never had any problems with my Intuos, never noticed the slightest amount of excess friction. Never tried a Cintiq though, maybe it's a different surface.

I've got a Wacom 3 6x8 (the blue one). It's old and cheap, but it does the trick. I ordered myself a Tablet PC so I can make some speedpaintings while I'm on the road. I'm just couning the minutes befor it arrives.

untill about 2 years ago i used a mouse.

then up to about 2 weeks back i used a wacom intuos 3.

i recently got a bamboo fun for my birthday and i love it even more than the intuos - mainly because it simulates the feel of drawing on paper more.

never realised there was such a thing a smudge glove otherwise i woulda bought it ages ago for my intuos.(i usually just put a thin sheet of paper over the tablet if my hand sticks...)
bamboo has a different surface on it so the hand doesnt stick so much.

its looks uncomfortable and prolly feels weird in the first 15 minutes but i barely take it off now or even notice its there... the surface of the graphire is really smooth but using it for like ten minutes makes it become sweaty... (really hard to describe without being gross )

I saw the glove online and thought what the hey only like 15 bucks. one of the most useful things i have ever bought regardless of how ridiculous it looks.

I'm with the 6x8 Wacom Intuos3-team, it works like a dream for me, but as many others have said, a Cintiq would be nice too... =P

Hmm. There's gotta be other people who are not at all interested in getting a Cintiq right (not because of the cost)? It can't just be me.

Ive got the exact same wacoms and feel the same way,
Ive been using tablets for 12 years , a studio mate has a cintiq 21 that I ve tried using but after all those years of looking elsewhere while holding the stylus I cant cope with my hand blocking my view..!

                >>>... edit
Also, you guys know you can use the nintendo ds as a cheap alternative to cintiq?
theres this homebrew app "colors" that works like mix of corel painter and artrage, that makes the ds into a small 150dollar wacom...

                and here's a link http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/

Wacom Intuos 3 9x12. Thinking of trying out the cintiq, but I've hear some mixed reviews on it so far.

Intuos III, A5. Probably the best choice. I tested the A4 onee but I think it is too huge. not easy to carry and you have to do miles to go to one border to another when you work !
I have it since 2006 and it works really well.
I don't use any mouse until I have this. I do everything with it. 3D, 2D, surfing on the net...

I sprung for a Cintiq 21ux (before the price drop ). I just love the extra screen/canvas space. I also like that I can rotate it on its mount to make it more comfortable when working on a certain area of a texture or painting.

The Cintiq is also nice to get big "hands on" sweeping brushstrokes.

I love my cintiq. Althought it was a bit of an adjustment at first, and I'm doing serious damage to my neck hunched over it as opposed to looking up at the monitor. But I've made heaps of improvement since getting it and don't ever want to work without it again.

I am a poor guy so i have a Aiptek 12000, that sucks because it is so glitchy. I am saving for a Cintiq though. I would love to have one!
