    Attachment 108980Ah thanks Ogi-G,

Finally decided to get on with some sketches and came up with these... although I think I may have got carried away and forgot about the 'nocturnal' with a couple... and 'little'.

Either way the first sketch is probably still my favourite anyway.

EDIT: Just thought I'd try correcting some things I got slightly wrong and add some explaination to the design I chose.

Some more development work, trying to find the right design, I'm liking the little bird features, I also thought of having a third eye as a separate entity from the main creature, that floats above its head like a halo and independently scans the area for threats. Didn't get much done, came back from work late, tired as hell :P

The triclops can use the larger front limbs to sprint on all fours when it needs speed to run away, otherwise it can use the large front limbs in unison with the small ones to handly small food (seeds, small insects, roots). The bottom left had a grasshopper kind of idea behind it,but I can't really see it working, I really like the top left's leg layout though.

I meant to go realistic with this, but then the description seemed overbearingly cute, and I just ended up thinking of these weird things instead. Think I'll roll with it.

I'll extrapolate once I've figured out which one I'm going to do, but here's where I stand now.

Those look adorable Vylla! I want them :P

I'd only suggest that perhaps the eyes should be more side facing. Seems to me the creature in the brief is very much a prey animal and more forward facing eyes might leave a large blind spot.

Also you've not got 6 limbs on them, just thought I'd bring it up before you carry on further and have to step backwards

Ack! Thanks Tchuk. I'd interpreted that as four limbs it walks around on with two being the arms or six limbs total. Thanks for the heads up, shouldn't be terrible to manipulate them into having six limbs.

And the eye critique noted. I'm a little torn though because I want to show all three eyes at the same time, so I was trying to strike up a medium with them at a somewhat 45 degree angle on the skull. In short, I agree, I'll play with it and push em back.

...would it be too weird to put the tiny arms on the lemur tail? XD

No problem Vylla, I'm glad I helped. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

As for the tail arms... I don't know! Give it a go

just pointing out that forward facing eyes have nothing much to do with whether the animal is prey/predator, but evolved in early primates to improve depth perception when leaping from branch to branch ;P

Starting to refine the design more, I think I have a general idea of what I want at this point, and will now refine each aspect of it, especially anatomywise, I threw together a quick mockup of what the skeleton might look like, tommorow I'll start on a more detailed and researched one, there's also a sketch of what the head might look like. The general shape of the head is based on a mix of turtle and bird, with 'teeth' that would help it break through nuts, seeds and roots. They're born from eggs, and use the 'teeth' to break the shell from the inside. I'm thinking of sticking the third eye on the front, and making it have a double lid, like crocodiles, so that when its running at extreme speeds, it can use the middle eye, which is normally closed, to aid navigation. The tail has an elastic segment at the end, with no bone structure, so that it can be detached and regrown very quickly, something to distract a predator when running away.

                            Default triclops

                            Hi there,

This is my first sketch for this challenge. I tried to combine great horned owl, squirrel and golden headed tamarin for this creature. Still need more developing.
