Default Apocalypse concept - crits appreciated

I did this to work on my portfolio and put in about 7 solid days.

Looked at it so long I've lost all objectivity.

Was rendered in 3ds max and then painted over.

Trying to get into movie/game environment concept design. So any help would be great. I have no idea if I like this piece or not, lol.

Hey stayinwonderland, really like your image!

A few things that you may want to adjust or keep in mind for another image is that although you have done a good job with the atmospheric effects, in some places it could be increased to aid the image.

an example of this the two buildings on the left side of the image, near the top of of the buildings the value range is very similar so it isn't very clear to the eye that they are separate buildings, chucking in some fog/dust would break that up easily enough.

Other than that the composition works but it could be improved. The fire and figures draw the eye, that's fine, but they are kind of tucked down into the corner and hugging the bottom of the image. You could increase the size so that they appear more in the foreground and more important.

technically i think its well rendered and has a great mood/atmosphere, but you could really push it to make it have more impact.

i am by no means sick, but hope that helps a lil.

Awesome feedback dude. That helps and I appreciate you taking the time. I forgot that I had since updated it somewhat. Here it is...

(it's quite subtle though, basically just added atmosphere).
