Creature #65 :: Cancri Tank

Challenge Overview:
Last month an article came out about astronomers finding a planet - called 55 Cancri e - that is made up of diamond and graphite. Cancri orbits its sun in just 18 hours which makes the surface incredibly hot. The first creature that has been discovered on the 'diamond planet' is called the Cancri Tank.

The cancri tank is a very short but wide, 6 limbed creature. It is not yet confirmed if it hosts an exoskeleton or extremely hardened epidermis, but it is made of an almost indestructible material. We do know that at those temperatures, it is blind, which leaves us wondering what senses it relies on for navigation. Its movements are extremely slow and energy preserving.

Hey all, straying from my home territory (Creature of the Week) a bit here, but I'll give this a go.
Just throwing down a few thumbs. Don't know if I have time for this, but if I do, here's a summary of what I was thinking as I was drawing each concept:
1) Highly-reflective upper chitin counteracts overheating. Crystalline endings to 4 locomotive limbs prevents feat from experiencing excessive heat from ground. Fibrous endings on front sense slight changes in airflow, sensory limbs on back sift organic minerals out of the air content for ingestion through multipurpose anus/mouth on the backside.
2) Bottom-feeding style of creature moves with it's head to the ground, collecting food as well as feeling out its environment with tendrils extending from beneath the lower mandible.
3) Don't quite remember the thought process on this one, or why it has flippers as it's front set of limbs. Gas spewing out of the top was meant to be a process by which it senses it's environment around it. Shell releases methane, fibrous endings sense changes in the flow of the surrounding methane to determine surroundings. Wouldn't be the first creature I've made with farting as a key element.
4) Sort of similar to 2. Limbs drag the creature along the ground at the laziest pace possible. Upper layer of teeth drag along the ground breaking down the upper crust of the planet's surface, while the fibres along the base of the creature sift through and collect any delicious morsels which may be dug up from such a process.

I want to create a creature that relies on sound/feel since they are very much the same, I'm going to try and incorporate some type of vibration amplification chamber into the creatures exo. These are the first batch of thumbs to try to get a sense of form for this beast.
