    Default BioWare CGHUB 2012 3D Challenge - Mass Effect - YCS-186


    Got a few ideas thus far for making a mess effect universe character, most of which revolve around the N7 program or people related to the main characters seen throughout Mass Effect

      Default Probably about time I updated this...


      Finally getting around to updating this... proof that i don't do much with blogs... finally finished uni, yay for me... back on topic though; finalised the character down to either a Raloi or bring forth an aspect of the N7 program.

      Also been developing a background for the character, something to influence the design and breathe a little more life into the character.

        Default concept sketches at last


        Character that I'm going with is a human recon soldier, who gets dropped onto planets from high orbit. Wanting the soldier's role to be reflected in the armor style I went with the idea of having something that would allow for greater mobility but still afford some defense. While thinking about the aerial drop component my initial ideas were to have a bulky suit, then to have a detachable extra armor, the end result was to just have a fully sealed suit which can then be unsealed after landing.

        Also broke the sketches down to the under armor segment, on which the armor would get placed directly over, and the other of the armor plates themselves which would provide some protection.

        For the character herself, I've been slowly building up a back story and looking for ways to reflect these in the character design. ie, the small braid being given to her by a colony kid that later died in a pirate raid.

          Just realised I haven't updated this in... a while... redesigning the character body armor, aiming at having it blend in with the pre-existing style seen in mass effect, but still to be unique.

            WIP of model, still need to finish up the armor plates around the legs and shoulder... and bring in the head

              at long last finished the head, still not 100% happy with the hair, but that is going to take time to get right... and that makes the mesh complete at last

                Front, side and back view of the character, 17k tris. My aim during this challenge has been to produce a character that would easily fit in with the pre existing styles seen in Mass Effect, as such a lot of sourcing it materials to approximate the existing textures and looking at the existing characters and armor sets available throughout the series.
