        Default advice

Whats your focus what are you applying for? That needs to show in your portfolio more so than anything else. I see a lot of characters/human figures. Also process is strong in a portfolio they wanna see how you made it.

It looks like characters are your focus but you put in an environment and some technology to show range. If you are thinking about illustration it would help to show some competency with animals. You could do that by having a character riding a horse or having a Siamese cat for a familiar; something like that. Maybe a cyberpunk dude holding a couple of snapping boxer dogs on chains while lighting a cigarette.

Why don't the alien ladies have feet? It doesn't look like you are afraid to draw feet.

The ladies in hats are elegant. I think that is a pretty strong piece.

Obvious weak points i see in your work is that you don't really understand anatomy, gesture, proportion of figure, value, and color.

Before you can design anything you really have to nail the fundamentals. learn how to draw and paint. Don't rush into Photoshop. What we are doing in this field is visual communication. How can you communicate if you have broken grammar? (in this case the fundamentals of drawing and painting)

Doesn't matter how creative you are, if you cannot put it on paper (the way you want it to be) than you aren't communicating.

design wise, I really don't see any story behind your characters. It just look like they are posing for camera.

think of who they are, what they do, where they are from, which world they live in, which time of year it is, why they are wearing what they are wearing and etc.

          Hope it helps.
