Hello! This is my third delivery of the work. Some things I liked but there were some that work yet.

Edit: Darn, realized looking back that I'm sort of repeating the look of an earlier entry, I'll see what i can do to bring something new

        Hey guys,

Managed to get a bit of it done tonight! Just kinda exploring and figuring out what I want to go with. I am I changed it's head area to a more crustacean shell kind of thing. I also added some reds and oranges to contrast with the overall blue/green theme of the piece. Lotsa refining to do.

@Didzis - Really digging the perspective you've got going with this piece. Really shows off the scale of the creature (although if possible, it might be be a good idea to either put the sub slightly in front of it, or another sub behind it (but a bit visible) to show the creature is larger than it. Really cool design too. Reminds me a bit of mosasaurs (sp).

@ Machuna - I like the odd design going on here. The flippers are particularly cool and I am also digging the painterly, loose brush strikes you've got going on. I would say the creature might be too crisp/clear if it's underwater. The shadows are very dark, I'd add in a bit lighter/deeper blue and maybe even a blue layer over top with a very slight transparency?

@GriffGraph - Some of your first sketches remind me of bacteria or viruses. It would be a neat concept that a bunch of these creatures make the bloop when mating, like the whole part of the sea turns whatever color they are and they collectively make one massive noice. That having been said, I am liking what you have so far. A turte/stingray mish-mash could look pretty sweet.

        Hopefully the feedback is helpful!

It's getting there. Slowly but surely. I'm having trouble with the lighting. I wanted the picture to be really dark, as if it was taking place in the abyss with next to no light apart from the one coming from the little sub. It was way too dark though (and I found no reference for that kind of underwater lighting) and when I made the whole pic lighter, it lost some of its atmosphere. Right now I'm trying to balance between rendering and atmosphere. I'm still having trouble with the mouth and general level of details, which is why I attempted alternative crop with the monster being blurred.

@juannovelletto I think that instead of one shark, you should have a bunch of smaller fish dispersing from the bloop creature.

                Default Background and render

Hi guys. Congrats to all of you. In my 2nd wip I've painted the landscape and renderized the beast.
I'd like receive suggestion about the basic color of the beast and critiques and suggestion in general.
                Thank you

                Heya,

WEll, the first thing that comes to mind and jumps out is the beast doesn't look integrated to the scene (I would say largely because he is not colored of course) but also because he is too crisp and clear.

Generally, underwater there is more pronounced "atmospheric" perspective, especially given it's size. It should fade a bit more into the bg the farther back it goes.

AS for the colors.. that really depends on what you want, but it should definitely have blue tints to it, and a lot of blue (or blue green or what have you) in the colors. The environment always determines a large part of the shadow colors and since you've already chose the color of the water and landscape that will make it easier for you when doing the highlights and shadows.

I'd pick a local color for your creature and start mixing it with varying degrees of the main color for your environment to start with. Also try to keep form in mind for the creature, try to imagine the shapes of the pieces that you can't see (the other side of his body for example).

Hopefully I explained it clearly enough to be useful.
