So i've worked on it a bit today, but theres a lot of things to fix still.

For example the purple cocoon balls and the tree roots and make it a bit cleaner.

But i wonder how do you guys like it so far? any critiqe?

I'm just gonna leave it as an attachment this time since it takes up so much space

@BobxMaker...so I am no master artist...and I am still learning myself...but I think that this is a good start. I would concentrate on the part of the image that you want to be the most important part of the piece, and make that part clearer. (make it lighter) and then make everything else darker. That way, your eye is drawn to the lightest part of the drawing first. That's just my suggestion though. Otherwise I think it's a great start!

Almost broke my laptop after I realized, I deleted my High-res in favor of a re-sized(smaller) JPEG without the layers. So I'm done with this Challenge.

@Shil Really cool idea and lighting so far.

@BobxMaker I really like the tone, and scale. You might want to make the tree stand out more, or even show the final result of the cocoon process to add more of an implied story to your piece.

@Kayla I love to colors and comp.

@Noldofinve really impressive. I like the 1st one because the tree is really clear, but I also like the positioning of the characters and the way the background frames the "tree" in the 3rd one, way to think outside the box.

Hiya guys. I did not have much time today to work on this but I did do a little bit. I am trying to work on adding stars to the image...I had them looking nicer but when I save to jpeg, when the window for quality pops up, my settings for levels on the noise for the background stars seem to just disapear. Im not sure how to fix this??

This is wonderful I love nature themes! I'm going for something out of the norm though. I'm always trying to improve my digital art skills as well as my traditional, concept art and illustration skills too. Since Sergio Toppi past away, I'm doing a bit of a tribute to him as well and trying to experiment with his style. Here is my tree of life. I'm also going to try and go for scale too. Lay it all out: I can take criticism very easily Plus: THIS IS MY FIRST ONLINE ART CHALLENGE EVER!!!! Perfect timing as I'm not going to art school for illustration until spring of 2013. So I'll be participating on some art challenges and what not to train myself Happy drawing everyone!!!!

It's more showing the idea then anything else but.. well, doesn't care. As you probably can see (even in this very first picture) I'm still really into finding an own style. So I probably will mix a lot of stuff

This topic looks great! I love the subject so I doodled around a bit myself. When I hear 'Tree of Life' I think of something HUGE, a tree which sticks out of the clouds. I made two versions of the same sketch, the first one is some kind of African tree and the second one a normal tree with clouds as leafs.

PS: what timezone is the deadline? I don't want to miss it because of time zone differences when I finish this.
