Well, interesting. Let's try one of these practice challenges for once. Can't guarantee I'll be able to finish, though.

Here's a Blunderbore (whatever that is) from Diablo II. I will probably improve the composition since it's quite dull at the moment, and it barely has a color scheme yet.

I'd like to know how far do you have to go with the background thingy. I'm so used to present the concepts in a vacuum, heh. That's my personal challenge. Criticism and suggestions are super welcome, the sooner the better!

Heres my wip, I loved the fetish in DII, I want to see them fighting over and on each other to get to the enemy (the player)

I may make some more thumbs before I fully commit but Let me know what you think of the idea?

@Abeloroz : that looks amazing, I like how you have him guarding an entrance to something, very intimidating!

              Hey, thanks Unseenhand!

Here's another approach for the composition and color scheme. I'm still not very sure if it's working very well. Any comment would be very appreciated

The color pallet is good for the old act 2. I get the feeling he is small/short, it may be the scale of that wall next to him or the amount of space remaining in frame.
---I have no clue what I might do for this. Succubus, Blood Raven, Nilathak... no clue, so many!

Heres my wip so far. Please leave any advice that you can.

Its a redesign of the fetish shaman, making him/her a lot tougher. To give it range with other fetish on it to using blow darts. Have it act like a vehicle to drop off more fetish into the fight, and the squishy shaman is safe too.

I had an idea that the big guy at the bottom would go into a rage and attack anything near him if the player destroyed the totem pole on his back. While the Shaman himself (say a bosslike one) would have the beehive mask like the one I've given him and could send out waves of swarmed insects.

@ AbelOroz: you've got a good lighting situation, play with it. Maybe he could look in the direction where the light comes from, that would imply he react to his surounding and this makes him more believable than just standing there and waiting to be cut down by a random hero

I decidet to go with one of the big guys, the maggot king duriel

one of my issues right now is the lack of depth, especially in the foreground

Hey. A lot of thanks for the comments.

I'm definitely not liking how clichéd it's looking and how terribly un-subtle the lighting has become, so I'm probably giving it up, since I won't have much time to restart it anyway.

I'll call it a flawed sketch (well, not flawed since I've learnt from quite a few mistakes) and move forward I guess, heh.

@Unseenhand, have a look at the construction of the figures, specially the big guy. Trace an imaginary line from his bellybutton upwards marking the symmetry axis of the body, and when you reach the neck hole where the sternum meets the clavicles, you'll notice his head is quite misplaced. Also, check his hand poses, and for the foreshortening of the legs, don't think in term of contour lines but in big three-dimensional masses overlapping each other. Draw the whole leg cylinders.

                        Anyway, good job everyone
