“Please don't keep everything secret, working on your image in private only to post it at the very last hour as a surprise. The point of sharing sketches and work in progress material is so everyone can learn from each other, receive crits, compliments and improve their skills in a classroom/workshop like environment. There are no teachers and no students per say, but try to offer help to others when possible. Please be open to receiving crits, and paint-overs or mock ups of your work, as we are all here to participate, have fun, learn, grow and enjoy what each week has to offer.” --Mike Corriero

If I keep with this one I'll probably add some strong orange colors/veins/canals and make the shell more rocky..

    @ Blindrat
Those are some sweet sketches, I love the worm and shell design.. I like the mouth on the bottom one more than the middle one tho (for some reason the one in the middle looks too familiar, don't know why), but both looks great.

    @ juannovelletto
It looks like a really cool idea! The contrast is really high tho, in all parts of the picture, which makes it hard to distinguish the body from the background. Maybe lowering the contrast a bit and lightening everything up a little could help, but I don't know I look forward to the update

My first attempt at some sketches.. trying to figure out what I might want to do with this.

I was thinking the buddy on the top left would melt stuff by belching lava. The other two would use their huge skull/bone extrusions to dig through and break rock. The big one curls into a ball. That's what they do, you know.

    Feedback and opinions are desired!

Straight forward info would be a creature that produces, shapes, or digs in the form of a tunnel, through or under a volcano

Thanks for the feedback, Artfiend. I am going to wind up going with the huge guy. I have a couple of ideas for an image that I'll have to work out (yesterday I was fooling around with the anatomy).

Yours is off to a cool start! I can't say more without seeing it fleshed out a bit, but I like the silhouette.
