Here's my latest painting, hope the composition works!

I like the direction it's going, but I'm not really getting a steampunk vibe from it

I am really digging the direction of this as well. I think her forearm needs to be longer.

I think overall the image has good composition. Good body language, enough detailing on the character to see what she's wearing (might need some reference on jeans and leather/knit glove dealies). I'm curious what elements will bring out the steampunk vibe, though. Plenty of background to bring in some city elements if you so chose, plenty of close up environment surfaces to fill with cogs and woodwork and pipes and whatever, too. But I'll have to agree above, so far, there's no solid "this is a steampunk themed image!" yet. Also, if you google image "steampunk women," I'm not too sure how many would look like your character that you have Not to say that you can't do your own thing, but if the end goal is to reference steam punk, I think a majority of elements (including the girl) need to have solid indicators of steampunk in them.

Concept is good,your painting is simple,but doesn't have much traits,maybe you can do more works on the gun or sword,just give this piece a focus.
