    Default Nightmare

Personal project, I wanted to push my rendering and just overall painting skills. I feel myself improving (painting daily really does work! hah) but still see room for a lot of improvement. Any major problem areas?

I really like the mood and the approach you have going with this artwork. My main critique would be that the middle background is looked a bit too symmetrical and is giving off kind of a mirrored composition, maybe if you break it up a bit.

Hope that helps , nice work!

thanks alex. Definitly see what you're talking about. I showed this to a teacher and he said the same thing. I'll fix it and post an update.

Great work man! I love the colors! You manage to evoke a dark and forboding feel, without sacrificing a colorful palette.

Looking awesome. Maybe push more forms in the background to look a little less vague and really open up the space. Keep up the good work

I agree with everything above. If you get a chance, check out some reference of the kinds of forest areas you're looking to emulate. If I were in your shoes, I'd be google imaging "burnt out forests" and images of the like. The primary light source and bouncing/back light effects look great. You might also want to check out how fire realistically lights things with that kind of bright light source. Study le fire, or use some of them textures
