Creature Forge #58 - The Swamp Dragon
06-29-2012, 06:39 PM
Welcome to the Creature Forge, the CGHUB 2D challenge of illustrating creatures of all shapes and sizes!
Creature #58 :: The Swamp Dragon
Deadline: Sunday, July 8th 2012 11:59pm [PST]
The task for this challenge is to come up with a creature that suits the name: The Swamp Dragon. You can create a traditional dragon that lurks in the swamp or take the name and come up with something new! Perhaps a large fish or a creature of myth - your choice! Think about what your dragon/creature would need to survive in a swamp.
We ask that you submit one image that is your creature fully illustrated with a background. Please show your creature in its natural habitat: The Swamp!
Good Luck and be sure to post any questions or comments in this thread.
“Please don't keep everything secret, working on your image in private only to post it at the very last hour as a surprise. The point of sharing sketches and work in progress material is so everyone can learn from each other, receive crits, compliments and improve their skills in a classroom/workshop like environment. There are no teachers and no students per say, but try to offer help to others when possible. Please be open to receiving crits, and paint-overs or mock ups of your work, as we are all here to participate, have fun, learn, grow and enjoy what each week has to offer.” --Mike Corriero

nother wip....I wonder if the tree on his back takes the focus away or not? perhaps if I keep the contrast fairly low it should be fine...

@rob_powell - Love your design man! I think that right now its hard to tell how distracting the tree will be until its more fleshed out. what bugs me is that it is right in the center of his back. if you are OK with breaking the symmetry of the dragon, it would be cool to see plants growing in more than one place on his back, and not right in the middle.

Oh Lordy, who gave him a tablet? (Lotsa's Sketchbook)
