Default Next up, Chun Li (Nudity)

    Hi all,

After finishing off Bertie I decided to tackle my first female character. Built off of an old max model I had created for a generic female. I still need to completely build up her clothing in max but here is the current progress in ZBrush. I think maybe the hips need to be a tad bit wider, but I'm going for a more realistic vibe. We'll see how she turns out. Feel free to rip me a new one since I don't generally make female characters.

Completed some more updates....let's see? I got rid of some flat spots in the face near the mouth, modeled the shirt and frog buttons, and shortened the forearms. Here is a quick paint-over of the current model. Think I'm on point....crits are welcome:

Oh and, here is the concept that I was using as my inspiration source: http://udoncrew.deviantart.com/art/S...ecial-47805709

I made the executive decision to use a classical mandarin collar rather than the overturned one from the concept. Originally I build it to spec and really didn't like the look of it.

Yeah I think the body looks masculine, the shoulder looks very wide and I think the chin of the face is a bit too long but it's getting there.

Try looking at female muscle anatomy body.

@nikonu: Thanks for the feedback. Both of those things were aspects I had been struggling with before deciding on this. I tried making the jawline narrower but it looked too cartoony and off from any angle other than the front. This especially happened while spinning around the character. Pulling it closer to her mouth also had the effect of making her face look squashed.....maybe the mouth is too high on the face? Dunno.

As for the shoulders, they are wide and masculine but I was going a little less for the impossibly dainty proportions women fighters often have in games. My inspiration for her body type was the female MMA fighter Ronda Rousey. Feminine but definitely big. I'll continue to evaluate stuff though, thanks. Good to have other eyes on this.

So I took another look and I decided to adjust the chin and shoulders. Made the chin wider and pushed it up ever so slightly. Dropped the height of the shoulders but kept the width. Looks a little more feminine but still like a real fighter. Need to finish off the hair and hands and the high rez will be complete. Then onto game model.

                Default nice

At first glance I thought she looked way to masculine but I changed my mind once I read that your going for a much more realistic proportioned character. Maybe its the fact that you chose Chun Li as your subject and in most people's minds she has anime proportions. Overall its nicely executed.

                Shoes look awesome...

@K_Rider: Thanks for the kind words....I really poured all of myself into this one. Feel free to check out the final images I posted of the fully downrez/textured model. I think it's my strongest game specific piece to date. Critiques are always welcome though.......there's always room for improvement and it's hard to stay objective when you look at the same model for like 3 and half weeks straight. Cheers!
