Hi folks! I'm Billy, and I'm a self-taught concept designer based out of the UK. I'm currently working in-house at Lionhead Studios, and occasionally freelancing on the side.

I decided to follow Thomas Scholes' lead and start up a new sketchbook here. I'll probably end up completely abusing the term "sketchbook" by posting 90% concept design work, but meh.

Here's something to start off. This is an early WIP, but I don't know when or if I'll be taking it further/finishing it. Apologies for it's early stage uglyness

Nice mood, lacking a hierarchy of importance and could use more planes not directly facing the viewpoint I thinks ...

Really nice placement of the moon over those jagged rocks, and the texture on that boulder is beautiful! I would cut those distant spikes to the right though, if it was me. I love moods like this. great use of colour like Mr Brown said :)

Ahhh! nice

Perhaps you could try using different colour palettes? Just to break the monochrome feel a bit. Other than that, I agree with Tom. More planes!

Yeah I wanted to keep it sorta monochromatic, but it does need more of a push. I'd probably end up putting some contrasting secondary lights/lighting in the focal area if I was going to finish this, which I'm probably not haha.

Ok, another crappy post today hehe. I was messing around with a brush I hadn't used before and liked the results, so made a quick painting out of it just for fun.
