"A KINGS THRONE" (Book Cover)

You get an email from a Horror Book publisher who is looking for an artist to create and illustrate a series of book covers that will be published in the near future. But first you get a test.
She is asking you to create a book cover for the first of the series as a test. The book is called "A kings Throne" Now remember this is a horror theme (you really dont have to stick to the horror theme but it will be cool to have some limitations and specifics for the job.)
She wants to see your process and keep her updated with the design, so please post your WIPS and do your research, its a way for everyone to grow. You got 2 weeks.

A chair like throne maybe with intricate designs.

hey maya, great start... just keep in mind that this for for a book cover so maybe add a little of environment to it but keep the focus on the throne..... also a portrait ratio will work better

keeep it up! cant wait to see what u bring for the end!

I am new to this forum, I wanted to stretch my sketching skills with this challenge.
This is one concept I am leaning toward. Going to do a few more.
Just keep in mind it is just a rough concept.

@maya great update! my only suggestion is that you work on the whole picture at the same time, this will help you have a more uniform composition and it will all be tie together as the image progresses. keep it up!

@nick hey nick great start. I really like that your exploring the design of the chair at first which is great. so keep that up!

AAGGRHH this is such a great topic but im trying to put some time in it in between work

Still a work in progress, it might be getting a bit confusing, so I think I'll start getting a little simpler.

@JoseVega: I hear you, man, I'm in the middle of exams right now and work has been pretty heavy lately, I'm gonna get in on this no matter what tho!

@Kronso: Oh thats a great frst take on the throne! I don't think it's confusing at all, it's looking pretty sweet, it's ok if you wanna explore some more, but this is one great start!

@kronso - cool stuff i really like the angle... makes it feel powerfull... remember to leave space for the tittle

keep it up!
also i just noticed... maybe whats a bit confusing is that you have in between the foreground and the chair u have a blur going on like out of focus which is ok but ill blur out as well the foreground to take it out of the focal area which in this case should be the throne itself.

hey can we do a 3d model for this challenge? Like if i render it out and use photoshop to make a illustration of it or is this strictly 2d?
