    Default Montior Brightness

There seems to be a large difference in brightness between monitors that people use. I was doing some work for a friend and he could only see about half the work. So, I adjusted the brightness of my main monitor and left the second alone. I've noticed the same issue with a lot of other peoples work on this site.

Maybe your friend's monitor is not calibrated!
Tell him to do that which will fix this problem.

Calibrating your display helps to ensure that colors are represented accurately on your monitor.
Company Like X-Rite is the Best of the Best in the market but you can also go for some Free ones like

His gamma is probably too low. Should be 2.2 (you won't find that in settings, you have to calibrate your monitor). That's the recommended setting for sRGB (web imagery)
