Alright So I'm entering the Conceptart forum Character of the Week competition. his weeks topic is the Intergalactic Burlesque Queen and I'd love to get some critiques before the topic ends this Sunday

I started off with a few quick sketches:



And tried to devleop on a few of them, however they all ended up either looking not attractive in any way or too human. Both things I was trying to avoid.





After originally scrapping the idea of tentacles I eventually went back to the drawing board and looked up various octpus references before coming up with:

I felt this was a much stronger image in terms of design, sihouette, I'd added holographic clothes and a more regal headpiece to really suggest she was the Queen of the stage and to avoid any confusion about how her clothes could move about fluidly in water.

I'm liking it because there's both a sensual feel to her and she really does seem like a queen. However, if you've got any suggestions so far as to how I can improve it I'd love to hear it

Ok update:

I've cleaned up the image, figured out her 'leg skirt' a bit more, and now it's just adding colours and lighting etc.

I'd tried keeping it controlled but I ended up with this result which I didn't like much:



I decided to take a few steps back, after I'd cleaned up the lines but before any lighting or colour was suggested. I do prefer the new image however I'm still considering how the colours and lighting from the holographic skirt and crown will affect the colour balance and lighting.
