Default why the lack of houdini art

    I am learning Houdini.
And is trying to do as much, as my limited knowledge.
    allows me in Houdini.
But yeah seems like Houdini, is not as much used
    as maya max and zbrush.
    Any ideers of why.

    Hi,

This is an old thread, but might as well reply so people might see it 6 months later (:

I think there are many reasons but it's mostly the low-level workflow and thinking required compared to other software like Max, Maya, etc.

Modeling is not as hands on as other 3d apps. You can model in the viewport, but it's not as flexible and fast, and you still have to work in the network editor primarily.

There are also fundamental limitations like lack of true edge support, which is pretty crucial for poly/subdivision modeling IMO. Without this, you lose significant proceduralism that could be had in this area.

There are more reasons but these are what I can think of right off the bat.

    Cheers,
    Light
