    Default Simplifying organic forms

Ok, so I have been really frustrated lately trying to simplify the forms of organic objects so that I can have a 3d interpretation I can use in my head. I
have been using photographs for this so this might be a contributing factor, but is there any advice you can give about seeing correct forms and planes through photographs. Here is an example by Feng Zhu of the kinda thing I mean, I just don't get how you can interpret that from a photograph. Anyway, hope this wasn't too confusing and thx in advance .

Creating planes with photographs are not difficult..Just take them to PS and then try to create planes of broader areas first then to smaller areas..Can also use perspective(Vanishing points) but that is not what will ease out the things for you.
Main problem most of the 3D artists face is analysing these planes.

The key to working with planes is to move from the largest to the smallest. You must create inside your own brain a 3d Model that has multiple resolution levels of resolution. On level one, it should have the most basic and simplistic planes. On level five, it can have planes small enough to describe the smaller details.
And the sketch you provided is very defined already to analyse these planes.

I think it is most important that you must have yourself idea.

Creating plane with photograph is easy .but the point is that the

details of the model plane ,need to speed more time to study .

Hope to be able to help you!

The sketches by Feng shows step2. What you dont see is the previous step. He has already in his mind simplified the objects ( in this case insects) into basic shapes..( cube, cone, cylinder and sphere) that's step one. then he took those basic shapes into more refine planes...hope that makes sense...
