    Default Deadlines and Bipolar

    II have been diagnosed as bipolar type 2 for several years now. Sometimes I am very manic and feel like my worst scribblings should be in a museum and other times so depressed, that I feel anything I do is garbage.

    A famous musician with the same condition said, "When you are energized create. When depressed, edit."

    When faced with looming deadlines, how do others with such a condition get through it and finish the work?

    Hey there
    Sorry to here that but these things will definitely help!

    To-Do List

    Some easy ways to stay on track so you can meet deadlines without a night-before panic.

    Time management is an issue for anyone and the best way to stay organized is by utilizing to-do lists.
    To-do lists help you stay focused on the days and weeks ahead, and guard against forgetfulness when juggling a few jobs and clients.
    One effective strategy is to utilize two "to-do lists" – one for long term and one for the following day.

    -> Long-term to-do list
    The long-term to-do list has every project you have in play and what is required. It also has all the bits and pieces required for your business that need to get done.

    -> Short-term to-do list
    Your short-term to-do list should be written out at the end of each day for the following business day. You should refer to your long-term list when drafting it up. If you number your list in relation to importance and urgency, all you need to do is sit down in the morning and follow your list, without having to decide what to work on first.
    If you tend to put things off, you may want to put your unpleasant tasks first up in the morning, that way you can get them over and done with and reward yourself with ‘fun’ tasks later in the day.
    The great thing about writing out your to-do list the afternoon before is that you won’t be swayed by what you feel like doing that day.

    Time-tracking

    A great idea to learn how long certain tasks take you. This will help you quote accurately in the future, see where you waste time and where you’re really on the ball.

    Fake Deadlines

    Try making up a fake deadline then telling the client to expect it to be completed on that day. Means that you make a fake deadline to push your limits and complete the work in that psychological time span you created for yourself.

    When you are energized , just go insane with your work but when you are depressed then go out with your loved ones and try to divert the attention to something nice!
    Attend Industry events, Chat regularly to other people in your line of work, regularly buy books and mags , critically examine movies, write blogs about your experience, shout on a hill top,etc

    Hope this will help!

      Oh yes. Your advice always helps. It is always a delight to see your posts. On the plus side... after a month and a half bout of insomnia, I finally slept through the night. Maybe I can get some work done now. Thank you for listening to me whine.

      Actually it's the same pleasure here as well(Always been)!

      It's a good thing and be at inner peace(it always helps)

      And it's not a whine but a question everybody wants to know with any disorder or without any disorder..
      And people spend their whole life to tackle these questions and this is what life teaches us.
      It's the journey and not the destination. If you go on a high speed then you cannot see the view of life, that is why go slow and steady and stop at a few interval to analyze the progression.
