      Hey everyone! Here is an update for you guys. Did some studies in pen yesterday and also working on a couple things as we speak. One of my friends signed me up for a table at Ikkicon in Austin (Without me knowing) so now im trying to bus ass and get some drawings done. Anyway....enjoy.

          Thanks for the comment Kherns! I am starting to really see the importance of studying anatomy. A lot of things are starting to make sense but I still have a long way to go.

                Try not to place specular highlights everywhere. They attract alot of attention and people will just end up looking at the pearl-like 6-packs.

                Consider the focal point. Hellboy's abs are more detailed than his face. Basically areas where you've placed greatest amount of contrast are going to stand out.

                If you want to practice good lighting, do alot of film snapshot studies. The lighting in film is very delibrate and will demonstrate to you how lighting is a strong part of composition. On a more simple level it's the shapes formed by values.

                    Yeah with light you show someone where he has to look. Also for the Hell boy example if you want you can add more shadow on his face also and more light, more a kind of gradient in the lower part of the piece to darken it, and there you go better focal, better contrast, better piece. Don't be afraid to use black in your grey levels sketchs, and white. Raise man raise !

                      Thank you guys for the crit. It is GREATLY appreciated. I am keeping this all in mind as i start my next drawing.

                      On a side not I will be going to art school next year. I am very very VERY excited about it!!

                          I will be goin to TAD (The Art Department). I have heard good things about their program and decided to go for it.
