Depends on what you want to animate. 3D or 2D?
But if you want an easy to learn 3d program you can look at "google sketchup". For 2d there is a legion of programs that can accommodate you on that. But unfortunatly not all are free. You could try "GIMP" that's free and "pixelmator" but those are just for image editing for animation you could look for "adobe after effects" or "flash" or even "jasc animation shop" it all depends on what you want to do!
