    Default Sketchbook of pedramfh

    Hey there!

My name is Pedram, I'm 22 years old and I live in Stockholm, Sweden. I am currently studying traditional drawing and painting at Atelier Stockholm and I will try to post all my work from in- and outside the school regularly.

This sketchbook is meant to record my progress so I am eager to hear all kinds of feedback and critiques you might have!

Like many others ive been drawing since I was little but I stopped for many years until recently when I decided to pick it up again. Therefore my work is very, VERY, inconsistent.

    -----

This is the stuff I sent with my application to the school during the spring of 2011, the figures are about 5-10min each.

Next up a A3 size cityscape I did as sort of a perspective study last year, took me a looong time to finish..

The rest is basically what Ive been working on for the past 4 months at school:

A cast I drew the first day, which was to show my skill level at the time, about 2h.

Then the mandatory Bargues 1-3 (working on my 4th charcoal one as we speak).

And then a bunch of figure drawings :'D

Cool to see you here on cghub dude! That Bargue looks awesome. Good you spent time on it making it better. In order to improve your imagination stuff.. do some anatomy studies and study clothes and design and all that. The stuff we do at school mostly improves our vision in terms of proportion and dark and light (and color later on). You need to study structure on the side since we don't really learn that. Pick up some Hogarth or Bridgman or something and try to see things in your head as a 3d form. Dont copy the anatomy books like bargues like i did xD.

Did this a while back, forgot to upload it. Didn't really spend a whole 2 hours on it.

And since I promised myself to try and upload everything, here it is!

Loving up the technical work and your figures are looking more and more solid. But also looking a little rigid, maybe try practicing some 5-10 rhythm/gestures figure studies will help you loosen up?

And maybe stress angles a little less, usually with angles with drawing figures you want them around the joints and bone protrusions say your elbow, knees, ankles for example and curves on where your body is more muscle dense say like calves, fore hands and what not.

Thank for the pointers! yes there is a lot of stuff I need to do and gestures is surely one of them.

I really struggle with the construction of the figure but I have this approach right now where I just do sharp edges because they give more structure to the drawing, but I guess they do end up looking a bit stiff.

This has been a slow week with Christmas coming up and all. Did get a 3day pose down and an wacom tablet from my brother as sort of an early christmas-present, so now ill have to start learning photoshop for real and putting up some digital art (:

Didn't finish, obviously, but messed up the shading really and should have spent more time refining the lines and fixing some proportional issues.

Some nightdoodles, I do alot of rough stuff I know, but its nice to get some creative impulses out when you're tired.

Drawing fast also increases the chance for happy accidents!

Did some Bridgman studies at work, not nearly enough but just to get me started working on my anatomy.

I haven't really drawn at all these few weeks and, needles to say, things don't always go as planned..

                                Anyhoo

managed to do some doodles again, I am slowly realizing that my shitty imaginary stuff is only going to evolve if I do more studies, so I dont think Ill be doing anymore drawings from my head for a while, not as often anyway, because as of right now im just going in circles, and I have been for a LONG time..

So im planning on just doing stuff from reference, in hope that it might improve my imaginary stuff later on.

Started with photoshop and im taking babysteps.. So many things to learn and the fact that I don't really know what all the different options and settings do just makes it harder to take in.

Trying to be all zen and take it slow. Easier said that done tho.
