If anybody's confused about what this activity is all about, feel free to PM me.
<> Follow the brief. Of course there's always room for your interpretation of the brief.
<> Color or black and white are both OK
<> Digital or traditional media are both OK
<> All skill levels are welcome here. We can all stand to get better but we only improve if we try.
<> We accept only finished artwork that was made for this activity.
<> Please only one entry per episode per participant.
<> If possible prepare a voting thumb like they do in the other activities.
<> Have fun, above all else!
<> No tracing: http://cghub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=55427#post55427

Overall in this activity we we be focused on places rather than people or creatures. These will be the sets, or matte paintings if you like, upon which characters, creatures, or vehicles might play out their respective roles within the broader story line of a game, movie, or art for a print work. My co-moderator and I will present you with a batch of information concerning the setting of a game or story and your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to knock my socks off with your best attempt at drawing that set. I know you can do it!

Until we have a 3D version of this activity, I am willing to accept works that were prepared with 3D programs as long as you pick a single view and export that view to a 2D file format for upload.

Please don't keep everything a secret, working on your image in private only to post it at the very last hour as a surprise. The point of sharing sketches and work in progress material is so everyone can learn from each other, receive crits, compliments and improve their skills in a classroom/workshop like environment. There are no teachers and no students per se, but try to offer help to others when possible. Please be open to receiving crits, and paint-overs or mock ups of your work, as we are all here to participate, have fun, learn, grow and enjoy what each week has to offer.

This round we will be doing a modern battlefield. How big or small of a battle is up to you as is the scale of the panorama you present. From an alley mugging to global thermonuclear war it's all on the table. If you think you want to get really gross, talk to us. I intend that this one can be rated M for mature ... but too many people barfing on their keyboards can't be a good thing. Off in that end of the spectrum I can consult with the admin about how far is too far. Deadline: Midnight, November 19, 2011.

I will update the Winner Board above as soon as I get a chance. Thanks as always for your patience.

Here's some sketches I made:
I didn't really know what you meant by "Modern battlefield"
is it present or might it be future allso?

1st sketch is just present battlefield between two factions
2nd one is world invaided by somekind of zerg type creatures, human race is slowly losing this battle and are soon to rely on nukes to blow up them, this will have serious consequences, world will allmost be tore apart.
3rd one is this race who lives in walley and they are being attacked by air. This one was kinda hard to do as i dont use this perspective as often made me really think how i was going to do this, but thats a good thing.

3rd sketch was not quite finished as i was in hurry and wanted to share them before i leave

New Worlds 25 was basically "Future Battlefield" so I was trying to go for something contemporary. Games and movies go that way sometimes too.

few ideas for this but only 1 doodle.

For some keeping their house is a battle specially when so many have already fallen victim to it. Dont know if this fits the criteria for this challenge, but it is the idea that im kinda leaning towards.

of course i need to rework the design alot more so its more visually pleasing. and not so boring..

That's actually kind of poignant. I'd say go for it.
