Anatomicae # 20 - The Red Queen
DUE DATE: November 24th, 2011

For this week's challenge we're to use a bit of imagination.

You're working on a massive RPG project designing concepts and assets. Your art director sends you an e-mail. He seems very...irate. He wants to know: WHERE IS THE RED QUEEN CONCEPT? You're late!

As far as you know you've never -heard- of the Red Queen. You don't remember the director mentioning it, and there's absolutely no mention in the e-mail of what it could be referring to. It could be a major character, a type of creature, a weapon, or even the name of a tavern...What are you going to do?

This is an open challenge.
-You may design anything you like based on the title ''The Red Queen.'' The only caveat is that it must fit in a RPG setting.
-Weapons, buildings, paintings, characters, creatures, or furniture design are all valid.
-Your entry will be judged on execution and creativity.

I was thinking that the Red Queen would be more of a summoned creature that would help the good / bad guys. Still working on the concept, but as of the moment I'm thinking of this floating skinless babe withouth a face
Still not sure about the cape tho, any comments will be much appreciated!

Wow, this sounds really creative !

I am going to start a drawing for this and am pretty keen on putting much effort in this although I don't really have much time.

#Santo : I really like your racer and it would be very fitting for it to be called the Red Queen
since most ships and racers are supposedly female. I am pretty interested to see how you will color it.

On the other hand I am going to try something completely different as I am placing the story on an island in medieval times in which there has always been the Red Queen. Her identity is unknown for she is the only one with the power to raise the new Red Queen from the young girls and that is always a secret until she dies and the other takes her place. I am still working on the idea so all comms are welcome and NEEDED.

Right now I am working on her symbol the crown of the red queen.

Coool challenge is it indeed.... I like the idea to make it a weapon, a weapon found at the end of a great battle, surrounded with dead enemies in a bloody environment, its holder, missing, just the weapon and the dead enemies.

I thought of making a special kind of sword, but later I thought that it could be a firearm, but not a regular one, a custom one, made by an artist involved in a neverending war, and a weapon built for glory, maybe a custom weapon based on an existing one, but increasing its performance, or something like that....

What do you think?

I like your idea of the weapon surrounded by its dead enemies, without its holder. Im not sure Red Queen fits on a Firearm tho, or on a modification on an existing weapon. A sword would be cool or a Scythe, something like that in my opinion, would fit nicely. Maybe I can recommend u work a lot on designing the weapon and the doing the final image with the dead bodies?

Hi Amaakir, yes you are right about the sword or similar kind of weapon (I've been thinking about a double handed axe too) it is a better choice than a custom firearm as I'd have to first create the regular one.

I've been doing some designing as you mentioned and I may post some of the ideas and see if you guys can point me in the right direction. That would be cool... Also I need a lot of help in painting too, let's see how this all comes out.

While sketchin, it came to me another idea about a vehicle too, not a motorized one, but a flying kind of dragon.... the mother of all dragons, who's been in countless battles....

I signed in just some days ago and it's about time I start posting and drawing for good, so I'll make this thread my first!

I'm thinking about making the Red Queen some kind of magical artifact that carries the strength of warriors and wizards of ancient times ("The Tome of the Red Queen" perhaps).

This device will lure a person that already wants its power and take over his/hers body and mind when he or she wants it above anything else.

Then of course the host transforms, everyone gets this thing is like a parasite, there is a battle, lots of sword waving, lots of button presses, lots of blood, lots of hp loss, lots of dying, tears, betrayal... etcetera; it's an RPG after all, isn't it?

I'll be posting some pixels later xD perhaps until weekend.

The story tells that the King died fighting with his mighty sword, the Queen, he was defeated at the entrance of the sacred cave, were the elders enter to contact mother earth. The battle ended with a huge volcano eruption that ravaged the valley. After ages, the sword was found, the heat had melted bone and steel together, and inner earth magma gave it the color as it is known today.... the Red Queen
