Hmm, my crit would be to possible have a more pronounced light side? Like for instance, where does the sun(s) hit the planet? And perhaps more nebula in the stars. Otherwise, I like the concept, can't wait to see what you come up with.

well heres what i have so far:

* the planet gotta change cut it doesnt fit my idea of the planet surface

*out of the rough color ideas i like 3 the most

* the "crystal/mineral" theme led me to the idea of creatures developing threw evolution oposite crystals , like oposite magnets that repolse one another so oposite crystals act the same way and thus creatures with the oposite crystals then surface can levitate using that oposite magnetic power, i will need to experiment on that one abit to nail it down

So ive been @ work all day so i havent been able to draw....But i have been able to write so here are some facts about my planet:

The core of the planet is comprised of a mineral called Nitronite, which is an alkaline-like mineral that flows throughout the planet, and gives off an bluish glow. It is also the planet's only source of light.

The surface area is made of Karbyn, a black shiny nearly indestructable rock.

Main alien lifeform that inhabits the planet are called Deavers.

Thats is for now here is a preliminary version of the planet..C&C are welcomed.

I have been using the name Erebus(which means darkness) but its a name in progress.

cheo36-thx alot these were traditional sketches scanned ( the 2 big buttom ones are also traditional but worked abit in photoshop)
now the fun begins as i have some more clue about what i want , i like ,your progress so far and the detailes on the planet are taking shape nicely .

I've been trying to flesh out my planet ideas over the last few days and finally think I've got one that inspires me, so I'll be posting my sketches shortly.

Very excited to see how this challenge goes, had some time to sit down for a little while and knock out some planet ideas. More than likely the Siamese will be the choice because of the potential for cross breeding between the two planets. Keep up the great work guys, you're inspiring the hell out of me!

Here's a quick write-up of the planet. I think sometimes it's good to hash out the ideas mentally before going into design. I've always said that the ideas are even more important than the actual art in certain situations. At this point, the ideas can work to inform my designs. I want get as far away from something earthly, as I possibly can. Hope you enjoy the read. I tried going for an H.G. Wells style.(I used to do way less compressed write ups before reading Wells :S)
