    Smile New to modeling

Hi I am a 2d artist and interested in getting into the 3d field.
I am torn between Maya and Softimage. Both look great. Which of the 2 is better for modeling and to understand? Features? Do you use both programs? thanks for your time

      try Maya!
start with basic stuff like chairs,tables,objects,etc..
then move to more complex stuff.
modelling your 2d artwork is your next goal.
now the guys from DIGITAL TUTORS will teach you the road.
      excelent video tutorials.

      good luck.

I been using Maya for a couple of years now. And I like Maya, but not everything is working perfectly.

Some of the modelling tools makes errors, or dosnt really work. Because they are outdated. But it is a okay modelling tool. I use it because most of the business uses it.

I have also used 3ds max some years ago, and it is the same deal, some of the tools works better than in maya, but others suck more

            Anyway, good luck.

            Cheers
            /Dennis

Just a quick note - remember there's also 3D Studio Max (I think Dennis already mentioned that ) and Blender.

I'll admit to using Max as my program of choice, purely because that was the program taught where I studied, but Blender has the added bonus of being free. And if memory serves it wasn't as basic as I assumed it would be the last time I tried it out.

Just a thought - have fun creating!

Basically I will send you files that i've been working on and you would just let me know what you would do differently. Any help would be great. Thanks a lot. My email is drdoof697@hotmail.com
