@John: Thanks a lot man. Somehow I have problems with the last rendering steps. You always have to zoom in to really see everything, though they are supposed to be readable from the "normal" view.
... Maybe I am a little overcritical on myself right now because I was struggeling on this one a little more than I would have liked to. ^^° @Parpica: Respect. I find this kind of things to be a perspectival horror. Always hate to do stuff like that. So heres my final piece I guess. I guess there is still something that could be better, but I really dont know what.

Thank you all for the crits, every work is a small progress. I will do a last look over tomorrow and post it in the finnished thread.
@htkpeh: I imagine your design as a little gross, like organs, skin... Maybe putting some kind of gut like thing on it, or a heart? Just thinking around. @Stace: Nice shape so far. Looks crispy. @Gyork: I like how the snake body is attached to the tree structure. @Cheo: Looks junky, steampunkish. I could imagine this in Bioshock or the old Fallout games. Or something really crazy. Only thing is that I am not sure what the blade actually is. Is it a solid mass with gas sprayd over it? I see some fissures in there. Then again it feels really gas or acid like.

Vaejoun, Wonderful update! glad i could help, don't be tooooo self-critical, its ok to think its cool, because it is
![]() htkpeh, Totally understand the function and love the design and brush strokes, def you're going in a good way! i'd just propose to render it a bit further so that every part of the scythe is easily recognizable ![]() stace, Ahh super great! we know you can do it, push it! ![]() Gyork, Man that is impressive! Its ok to have the same function because the design look its totally different! go for it, you're not copying or will be disqualified! ![]() cheo36, Great finish, very well done! I specially liked the fact that you showed how big the scythe is in comparison to the user! ![]() alola, Great start! It reminds me a bit of a steam punk theme, which is super cool! I would recommend you to research for steam punk scythes or other weapons, at the moment you're scythe is a bit "empty", you could add small details/carvings through out the scythe and its blade too ![]() You guys are incredibly awesome, always helping, I'm proud of you this is how a community should be like!

@stace:cool design beside the tip,it`s to fine, but the rest is really nice^^,like it
@gyork:awesome man, good heavy look,i hope you can finish that until tomorrow @cheo:good rendering and very good typo you used, cool piece of work @alola:good next step,it`s more special now, maybe you should add details and in my opinion the steam pipe dosn`t work well with the rest and keep on @Vaejoun:it`s a good idea with the gut,it should be some kind of stomach mixed with the wooden staff so here is my final,i`m still searching for a cool name crits are welcome thanks guys for this great community Last edited by htkpeh; 09-23-2011 at 12:45 PM. |

@htk - very very cool man! i really like that u showed how it works...it gives it more functionality... and the organic feel to it fits very well
the only thing that confuses me just a bit is the material of the actual blade, even thou its a different color of the rest, its kinda rendered the same way so it does look a little organic, so i dont know if it was meant for cutting or just the shape but it actually sucks in the soul instead of cutting.... i hope that makes sense anyways thats my 2 cents! other than that gj man! thanks for sharing!edit: oh dude i had to look again.... are those ppls faces and a hand in the belly? like putting pressure on the belly from the inside? if u made it that way....thats awsome!!! lol

@cheo: that`s right, the sucked souls try to escape the stomach until they shoot out,
it would also be cool if some souls try to escape through the upper "mouth" and some hands coming out of the scythe`s top(maybe when the character stands in idle and wait) |
