You're unbelievably talented Uti! Did you use any programs besides zbrush for this? I would love it if you could describe your process a bit as well. Either way, great work

    Thank you very much sparklyoldman

If not for the base mesh, I have always used ZBrush for this model.

For Iron Fist it is all about sculpting basic meshes using some basic brushes (standard, move, clay, clay tubes, polish etc..)

For the dragon it is a little more interesting:

    - I prepared the zSphere posing with a chain line in order to have a good curve: I got a kind of smooth posed snake to use as a reference.

    - I made a basic element that consists of two sections of scales, a dorsal fin and a plaque:
I built the scales using the zphere with the radial symmetry enabled. The fine and the plaque are made from very basic mesh.

    - I duplicated and positioned mannually the base element along my reference (this was a bit too long)

Actually last night I tried to use the ZBrush rigging with excellent results, being able to quickly and accurately pose the body of the dragon.
Now (and I'm afraid for the next days) I have no ability to post images... but as soon as I get the chance I will try to illustrate the process for the body of the dragon and for all the other elements as best as I can

    Default IronFist

Hey folks (whoever's left) it's been a bit of a bear for me to make time for this, but I'm liking how it's coming out. I went a different direction than most by basically starting to hulk IronFist out. I remember Sabretooth being a very physically small character and then Mark Texiera, one of my favorite comic artists basically inflated the dude to unreal proportions in a graphic novel. After that Marvel really went all in on doing the Sabretooth as Wolverine's Dad story lines and that was pretty cool. If I was running Marvel I would probably go that way or get Mark Texiera to re-imagine IronFist in a graphic novel. I started with a rough base mesh in Maya , then took it into modo for rough sculpting to get the base mesh to the proportions I wanted and now I'm going between ZBrush and modo. Hope you like.

    Hi Horus,
The model is coming out well... the idea of an Hulked Iron Fist is great and I'm very curious about it!

In these days I have worked hard on my model and here are the beauty render and a "4 view" of the model.
In the next days I hope to make a good turntable... but for now the images:

    Hope you like it

Damn Guti, pure sweetness! You've really mastered Zbrush's materials. The glowing hand and the great dragon beasts out some of the best illustrations of Iron Fist I've seen. Great work.

The hand on the back will be the one on fire... but If I can find enough time, I'd like to do instead the aura of the dragon.
If you are not too convinced let me know what you think of the pose...

          any advice is really apreciated!

And there are also some detail of the hand (for now is the most detailed part)

First of all, congrats for the final piece. It is brutal, the design of the character, composition, painting, lights and of course the render.

you have an awesome model here.

I want to ask you, the pose you did, you made it in Zbrush as well? used zspheres to rig the character?

          and what about transpose master?

I'm very glad that you like this image.
Yes, also the pose was made in zBrush, but no zSphere rigging.
In this case there are very few subtool so I used only simple transpose on each of them.
To be a little more precise I have posed a mannequin first (that is very simple to handle) and then I used the posed mannequin as reference.

So you used transpose or transpose master?
and it didn't break the model?

The experience I have (not much to be honest) is that wihen using Transpose or TM to make huge pose edition it breaks the model.

I'm doing a tutorial on zspheres rigging to see if it works better.

I used the normal Transpose on each separate subtool... and, in effect, yes: this broke the model, so there is need to resculpt each joint in order to have a good result

I tried the zspheres rigging and it kinda does the trick

but it depends on the subdivision level the model have of course.

              cheers
