Malo: WOW. So graphic in layout. Very nice!
DarkMechanic: Great concept! My favorite Viking saying... "A viking desires to leave this world the way they came in, kicking, screaming and bloody". The idea of an "undead" is uncomfortable even for a Viking.

I'm gonna keep running with this one even if it's not in the poll. Did a couple of quick light studies. I'm favoring the under lit "walking through hell" version but the hard light of the other could be fun. Any preference?

SARDEANIE - really like the 'through hell' colour scheme.
malo - looking good, perhaps reshape the hair a bit?

Here is some WIP of my Zombie Viking, going from the silhouette to a rough pencil drawing of the detail and a little bit of shading. Next will be ink, scan and colour. Thanks to jamieboylan for recommending one of the sketches.

@ malo: awesome work! i love this piece!

Here's my first pass black and white version. A pack of brutish, brain-hunting zombies emerges from the mists of the apocalypse.. C&C welcome. Planning on doing a color pass tomorrow sometime.

@Sorkness- Thanks a lot for giving some C&C. You can't see much of the shoulders now haha, but I'm still going to work on them. I'm not sure If I'm going to go into color on this guy. Any comments are welcome!

This theme is always fun. You�re guys are coming with some nice ideas.

@SARDEANIE: booth studies are cool. I do prefer the UnderLit version aswell, but the colors of the upperlit one is more "zombie like" to me.
Hope you came with a good solution.

@DarkMechanic: your stuff is very good sir. I spend a good time yesterday looking at your gallery. Congrats.

@Mitts: I think you�re right making it black and white. Take a look at some Bernie Wrightson's artwork to keep you inspired.

@ DarkMechanic - Thanks, buddy! Hmmm - hope to find a bit more time to work on it(right now I'm pretty busy with work). The hairs should have a more graphical shape/style - so they fit more to the kind of straight overall shapes - imo

Talk about hairs!

Lots of time and not quite satisfied with the hair by the left eye. Needs some more blending with the skin.

*Edit: Got the head all fixed up now, and really crank some hours in before the deadline. I may not get to the color or background as I had intended. Very excited to finish this piece even after the deadline. "Extension anyone??"

Mitts, he looks pretty cool, i like his pose. Is his face going to be lit?

Sardeanie, i prefer the warm one too but maybe you should try to saturate the skin a little more on the cool one and add some decaying/rotten hues.

Here's mine. I'm working on the anatomy and pushing some hues in at this point. Erased the abdominal region, i'll work on it later. I wanna start dropping some texture tonight.
