Default Texture Artist / Sculptor Teamups

So, I am not sure if I am posting this in at all the wrong place, or even if asking such is a huge nono. But, I've had many people suggest I give this a try, so, I am going to.

I'm trying to build up my texture portfolio right now in preparation for a move in the not-too distant future, and so I'm having to prioritize what I want to get done, and what I can get done. Like everybody, right? I can do some low-poly modeling, but the areas in which I really need to practice and polish my craft are on high poly models. The modeling of which is slightly outside of my skill level.

    So here's the question:
Do texture artists and 3d modelers ever team up to produce high quality awesomeness in a reasonable time-scale on these here forums? And, If so...any of you talented modeler folks out there want a texture buddy? Is there another forum I should be asking this in, or where modelers post requests for textures?

I just don't have the time to dedicate to both arts at the moment, and I feel like there have to be other working artists out there in the same boat.

There are texture Challenges out there you can participate in such as CG Society challenges. They provide you with the models and you basically texture the best to your ability. I am not sure however if they are already unwrapped...but that's all part in being a texture artist. If you want to up your texture portfolio you may also download some tutorials and create your own textures through that but give credit to whoever had created and/or unwrapped the original mesh.

Hope that helps...in case you may not find someone to team up with. gl

The talent of success is nothing more than doing well whatever you do without a thought of time.

i dont think this happens a lot, however, this is the only way i go. i am a texture painter by trade and have close friends support me with slick models to paint and lookdev for personal work. i dont have time or the skillsets to model creatures towards the caliber of some of my friends, and since they dont have the time or skillsets to see their assets through regarding paint and lookdev, we fullfill each others needs beautifully.

the key is finding people you gel with and trust.

          best of luck!
