its a scaled, warty, shiny amphibian.

which may be why I'm having trouble sticking to one critter.

I like yours, though...the part sticking out in front of the face - is that from the inside of the mouth, or the side jaws/tentacles (like a squid) ?

Stimpy, if I may suggest something? perhaps put the warts/bumps around the base of the spines. (ala stonefish)

          ah; neat.

idle question, just wondering here...can the probosis go fully into the head, or is part of it always exposed to the air?

I can about imagine the thoughts of any rabbit placed next to that for a size comparison..."are you sure it won't eat me?"

atolls are not always the most mountainous of landforms. maybe look at images of brain coral and flattish volcanoes? they tend to be found around atolls, at least on Earth.

well, nobody said all eight have to be for walking, if that helps any.

Oh yes, definitely going to do some warts and such. Just getting down the base of everything.

Nice job everyone. I'm looking forward to everyones' finals!

Here's a slight update from me... As soon as I finish the mouth piece and legs I'll move on to the serious detail work. x) This has been a fun challenge!

Awesome stuff so far! Here is my 3-4 hr sketch. It's face kinda looks like a tail haha, but I think that might be a nice defensive feature. Still gotta work out the flowers, and prob some more on the face.

LOL, I'm thinking the proboscis goes into it, when not in use.

question - are you counting the jaw-blades as modified limbs?

my scanner is acting up...I'm taking it in for a check-up tomorrow; it may be about to die, though.

So, at the very least, I'm afraid I have to drop out of this round. sorry.

                      I wish everyone all success.

                      Hi everyone

Here are just a few concept sketches for this creature. I had a pretty clear idea of how I wanted it to look from the beginning so theres not much change from drawing to drawing. Im still not really happy with the mouth but ill revisit that later. Now time to design some weird plants.

                        Smile Concepts for Frilo-Atoll Pollinator

                        Hi all,
enjoying teh artwork of all you guys... awesome entries...
I'm posting some concepts here... teh subject is scientific n I have very less knowledge about teh terms used in teh description (so I googled it, hehe)... bcuz this is learn n fun section, please feel free to guide me.

@Daitengu : hey nice character buddy... liked teh details of mouthpart.

@santana : nice creature... teh only question is, can invertebrate creature lift his weight like you have shown... I'm not sure, lets see what others say... otherwise everything is good

@natzuurjk : your character and rendering is awesome... but dunno, I'm feeling that teh character is huge!... maybe bcuz of environment.

@Cjordan : I'm following your progress from start... liked your character and finishing... looking forward to see teh final

@lukasran : good going buddy... looking forward to see some detailing in your image.

@Didzis : nice creature... lets see how you render it.

@Stimpy: what will you do for silver shiny warts? will you neglect that?!!
