    Smile Anything would be help.

    Hi,

I am a guy who likes to become a modeler and training myself at home with modeling, texturing and rendering. When I am trying to render my model by mental ray (in production quality) for the exercise in maya, it crashes sometimes (not everytime). It looks like it can't handle that much of data which I was expecting to be displayed in render window. When it reaches the moment, I never get the view again. I know it would be easier if I make a render with using maya software render but as I am using poly, I have to turn my 3d poly model into " high rez geometries before rendering and I like to see some of raytraced surface on my model which is I really love to see. However, I had purchased a computer about two yrs ago(vista ultimate, 32bit os, 4 gig ram memory, 500gig + 500 extra hard drive, ndivia quadro 600 graphic card). Recently I've been making a car in maya by poly with medium high detail but it crashes even I didn't put texture on it. Do you think it is good time to upgrade my computer to 64bit os? Does it work really well? Please help me with this one..
BTW, I like to put textures on all my model later for my portfolio.

    Thanks

64 bit would allow you to go over the 4MB RAM, and lots of RAM never hurts.
