haha, Thanks for using my gorrillapien for reference!

Hes a very exagerated muscular anatomy and I used Body building magazines as reference for those muscles. Also I only sculpted the top 2 sets of abs since hes going to be wearing a very broad belt that will cover up his lower torso. Again thanks for that.

Good progress coming from everyone.

Karmajf~ creating displacement maps is always a pain in the ass. It might be alot easier to use Normal maps. Displacements will also show less detail and if your numbers aren't right on you will have lots of problems.

Farouce ~ when sculpting muscle there is a constant carving away and building up the structure. Carving in the ouline of where the muscles are on the body works well to map out where they go. Some of the shapes will be subtle and some will be sharp as well, variation helps.

oh by the way he does have a six pack, his lower abs are hidden as well.
my zbrush skills are not on the same level with my maya modeling skills, but then that is why I am here.
    thanks for all the advice

      Fernado~ your oni looks badass!!

looking forward to the final piece.

Sorry for not posting more often.. i've been having log in issues at home.

The reason I gave you guys a couple extra weeks was partially due to the Dominance 5 challenge. I though since some of you were taking part that the extra time would be nice so you can focus on multiple projects. Also since I've been giving extensions the last 2 challenges I thougt I'd just make it a bit longer anyways!

      2 WEEKS LEFT!!

From what I've seen so far their is some really great things being created here! Lets get them finished and polished up!!!

I'll post an update on my amanojaku in a day or 2. I'm very pleased with how hes coming along too. very creepy....

      Good Luck Guys!

The Black Tortoise is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. It is sometimes called the Black Warrior of the North (北方玄武, Běi Fāng Xuán Wǔ), and is known as Genbu in Japan

Can i use the following image as a reference and proceed towards modelling?

regarding about the body, i'm probably going to rebuild the model real quick. It was just a quick concept with zsphere.....it contained very messed up topology. However I'm trying to brainstorm the shot where Kappa is about to coming out of water....kinda like the gator looking for target. Which mean the whole body might not be essential....what you guys think?

The whole body is essential. The challenge is not to model a scene but a creature/ monster. adding a set piece afterwards is bonus.

you need to post front, side and 3/4 views of the finished model in order to qualify for the the final voting.

it can be in a posed position for these images but we must see all of the model.
