On a trip to Bomor to study the Scinos, IWCA has stumbled upon a true marvel that has never been discovered, or imagined for that fact. As the ship was coming out of warp speed, it ended up in an asteroid field which shouldn't have been in that sector to begin with. To their astonishment, the asteroid field was actually not an asteroid field, but a group of living creatures that somehow evolved to exist in the cold vacuum of space. And that is when the name Gallacrag was born, the wandering rock.

Guidelines: Your task is to portray the group of Gallacrag along with a complete background. Keep in mind that these creatures are massive and at a distant glance, they look like asteroids. Enjoy!

Hi all, this it what i have so fare, still working on other ideas.

This is a silicone based life, it uses those slate like crystal formations
on its back to capture solar energy (UV, Photons, nutrons, gamma, alpha, Beta ect). it stores and proceses the energy for propulsion and food.
It propels itself using a type of bio-plasma thruster, and for braking up the odd astroid for minerals and silicates it needs in conjuction with the solor energy.

still working out its reproduction and trying to work out the internal anatomy of this lifeform.

phristova - thank you for posting great references, much apreciated! personally i like the first 2 thumbnails from the second row, but still keep exploring and when u hit a silhouette that feels right ull know! keep it up!

mr brown - great sketches! i love the first one. keep in mind that when ur designing, what do the tentacles do exactly in space to help u solidify the design

stimpy - great back story and design. but same goes for u, what r the tentacles used for in space? not saying to get rid of them, just know why u r drawing them keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback, i thought the tentacals provide two things.
First i imagined they would be used to grip or latch on to astroids so the creature could start brakeing them up as a another food source.

Second i thought because of its stone like texture it brought a more organic feel to the design, helping the viewer determin what it is.

For mine:
I love the idea of something so alien with human eyes.
All of these have Human-like eyes. I am sure there is a scientific explanation to it.

Hello guys! how u doin'? -i just got my net connection back that's why I wasn't able to join the previous CPAs. Here's some doodles I made before my bedtime stories. I think I'm already ok with the idea though I still need to improve it.

phristova - nice scribbles there dude. -and thanks for sharing some reference pictures!

*the whole body of the creature is protected by a very thick body of rocks/stones. It has 4 feets which they use when they land to planets or huuuuge asteroids to gather food. When they sleep, they usually shrink and hide inside asteroid-like body to protect them from harm (if any). It has a long-range of eye sight. The stone-ish tail serves as a gravity puller/balancer when they travel to different locations in space.

Haha, I'm having so much fun painting asteroids and a spaceship, I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with the creature design yet.

Stimpy, I like your current one, I think it's very good!! I like how you put thought into its propulsion and other aspects.

Mine is kinda of a giant scarab burrowed into an asteroid and fused with it. It gets around with the gian limbs emitting anti matter particles . Uses it's upper mandables to break apart asteroids and other food items, and other stuff for food gathering.
