OK everyone....

8 more days left in this challenge and its tme for you guys to bust your ass and push the limits of your sculpt and your skills.

If you are pretty much done then push forward with texturing.

If you are rendering outside of zbrush try to setup a decent light-rig to really show off your skills.

For a really nice zbrush capture heres a tip:
Once you have your piece finished resize the document size to 4000 x 3000 (4:3 ratio) (portrait or landscape is up to you)

* this will make it really heavy if it doesnt work then try 3000x 2000*

on the right side of the canvas menu click on the AAhalf button (anti-aliasing half)

redraw you ztool on the canvas .

you will see that all the jaggy edges have dissapeared.

then zoom out with the zoom button (NOT the scale button) ,then you can frame or scale your ztool to fit the canvas.

once you have your pose set, under Document menu, click the export button to save as a .PSD file.

you will have a huge 4000x3000 size render of your image.

you can then scale it down in photoshop to whatever you like, the reason for creating such a huge image is that when you scale the image down you retain alot of the detail that is in the larger image and itll be cleaner and crisper looking.

Good luck and Kickass!

    Default Mind Flayer

I have been working on a Mind Flayer, I did a quick sketch in Sketchbook pro. Base mesh in 3DSMax and sculpting in Mudbox.
Still a huge amount to do, doubt I will finish it but I will try...

      Hey baldez, looking nice!

When dealing with things like anatomy its best to keep to a somewhat realistic anatomy. We as humans will relate better to this. otherwise we may not know what it is that wrong but we will have a the sense that it is off. Even monsters and hybrids where you have a more fluid design with anatomy the closer it is to real life creatures the more you should refer to them.

Heres a quick paint over I did of your avoral.

      some anatomy and proportion changes.

adjusted quadricep and upper thigh to hip area.
abdomnal, chest/back and shoulder/ arm area as well to add and soften defeinition in certain areas. also adjusted the top of head to give a bit more cranium.

Take my input as you like, those are just suggestions to help you to pollish this cool looking beast!

Baldez - Awesome! The area above the knee needs to be tweaked abit. get some anatomy pictures off google to use as reference.

Riiintintin - Looking sweet! very close to the reference. Maybe add some dead brain sucked people crumpled at his feet!

          Default Mind Flayer

Latest work on the mind flayer.

I agree it needs something else on the floor. Going to add some skulls I think with some flesh hanging off and perhaps some roots and creepers growing through.

Sorry for not updating guys, I've been having some rendering problems this week, keeps crashing.

Riintintin- your mind flayer is looking good, love the way that the tentacles are hanging. I"d work on his thumb and adding some smaller details to the tentacles before I focused on the pedestal. I like all the detail on the chest armor, it would be nice to see some details like that on other parts of his clothing or body.

              riiintintin~ coming along nicely!

youngblade~ i like the emaciated look your going for... try pushing it a bit more in the spine area really make it stand out. Keep the muscular look but try to make it look like its hanging a bit more , bring out the shoulder bones, collar bone, elbows, etc....

              Keep going guys!
