Dinobots redesign - Due - Sunday Feb. 20th 2011 - 11:59p.m. [PST]

- A Poll will be set after deadline for voting.

- Please Post only one final image. You may add a description either on the image or in your post. Do not post sketches.

- Also be sure to include a thumbnail of your final image for the voting poll. We have provided one for you to edit:

Make sure you edit the "username" layer with your cghub username. Save it as a .jpg and attach it to your post.This is required.

-We recommend not voting for yourself - it's just good sportsmanship.

hey everyone, thanx for the supports and cc, am going out of the town for a few days, so this is as far as I got up to for now, thanx Bryn and Ogi, for setting up the event, quite an inspiring experience~ ^ ^

Here's my Spinosaurus Dinobot looming out of the mist. Thanks to everyone for the cc, Bryn for taking a look at the underlying skeleton, but most of all cyl1981 for inspiring me to enter this challenge in the first place.

Dinobots, who could resist?! Since a few people liked my rough and said it was "cylon inspired", I decided to go the whole way and it turned out better than I thought. Thanks for commenting guys! So would this be a bad guy Autobot/Cylon hybrid? I guess the viewer can decide!

too late?

here's mine. swoop! -still needs a lot of fixing.. but. no time. and i got other stuffs to do ohoo..
~really tried to get the feel that this guy could actually transform into a mech/bot. and yep! fun experience. great works guys! and thanks!

This was a great round everyone! I always enjoy these 80's cartoon redesigns! Here are a few thoughts/comments:

@cyl1981 - Gorgeous work! I love the way you've softened the palette it and made it look almost like a storybook! The T-Rex skull in the rock there is a nice touch!

One critique would be to maybe work out that back leg a bit more.

@Earendel - Love the composition of this image. Great angle - really makes the Spinosaurus look huge! I also really love the way you've added some wear and tear to the robot itself.

Something I think both you and cyl1981 could have worked out a bit more is to make these DinoBots look like they could transform back into whatever vehicle they originally were.

However, the focus was more on the DinoBot so it's more of an afterthought...

@akutenshi13 - Great work on this guy! I love the chainsaw blades along the back and it definitely has a retro feel! I think it captures the essence of the toys/show really well and it looks like it could transform into something

I think next time you should try to work on staging and composition a little more.

@JamesDonVito - Nice work! I really like that you paid attention to pterosaur anatomy and tried to incorporate it into your design! The teeth are a fearsome touch! I would have liked to see the rest of the wings though. Great work!

@tsadlyre - You just made it!

Great work on this! Love the color and mood in the image. I like that you tried to incorporate that transformer feel into him. I think a little more time spent on this would really push it to the next level!
